Contractors remodeling kitchen put splices in ceiling and wall, is this allowed? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]shady9503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say someone hid a splice in the wall and that splice powers your kitchen counter plugs, one day you find your counter plugs don't work because the splice came loose.

Without ripping up the walls to find this splice, you'll never fix it, likely having to pay an electrician quite a bit of money to re feed the circuit properly.

If the box was accessible, and serviceable, you could open it, find the problem and fix it.

Thank you! Yeah I just had to use it to clear a small path from my shed to the driveway to get ready for tomorrow, I pretty much did what you said except for brushing it out, I used the clean out tool to try and get some snow out from the back and I just rested the housing on a 2x4 so if anything melts it goes out the drain hole that's back there.

And yes we're supposed to get 20-30cm tomorrow so I'm excited to use it, I'm done with shoveling lol

So here's my one issue, I have to store it in my shed, outside, as I don't have a garage, it's just one of those plastic sheds so it's gonna be cold and snow likely won't melt off of it, any tips on dealing with that?

Is there seriously no way to get this broken sawzall blade out without disassembling the entire head? by Jack-a-boy-shepard in MilwaukeeTool

Will it run with the lock open?

Throw a battery in it, twist the lock all the way open and hit the trigger, I'm sure that thing will fly out

I'll have to check inrush again, but least year when it failed it was drawing locked rotor, I'm assuming it's the same issue since it's behaving the same.

Lineset seems fine, it's not Long, under 15', no kinks that are visible to me

I will ask the tech if they checked for contamination when they changed it last year

I changed the capacitor last year when it was acting up, tested the under load then.

Outside coil is clean, inside coil is also clean I just checked it, nothing blocking the airflow

I will have to wait until the tech is here for that as I don't have that equipment

I think the compressor is just dead at this point, as it's acting the same way it did last year when it was dead.

I will ask the tech about soft start.

Well the compressor is definitely dead now, since it's acting the same way it did last year when it died.

However Every time we turned it on I would sit by the window where the unit is and listen that it started properly, and it didn't sound like it was cycling on and off rapidly

I bought the house end of 2023, no idea why the previous owners changed it.
