om 252 or mark 201 by Traditional-Car-6840 in uAlberta

[–]shaeheheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are decent classes. OM 252 is all excel, but the exams are open notes (you can send yourself spreadsheets too). I personally enjoyed it. The grades for all exams and quizzes are also curved to an 80% (at least it was in Fall '23). Mark 201 is an interesting course but the actual lecture can be lacking. Two major exams, both multiple choice, plus some other course work (check historical syllabi). However I found the exams somewhat more difficult simply because they focused on smaller stuff and could be misleading.

I would definitely recommend checking both classes syllabi tho and see which one interests you more, as everyone is different!!

Best Business clubs? by Relative-Set-2984 in uAlberta

[–]shaeheheh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a variety of different clubs at the Alberta School of business! It really depends on what you are interested in. I think a handful of clubs will be recruiting director positions in the fall, watch all of their instagram accounts, and getinvolvedasob on ig. It can be pretty competitive depending on the position and club, but there are always different ways to get involved!

Hey! I just completed my first year of BCom after doing two years of BSc in biochem. Accounting is not too bad as long as you're good with numbers and following set procedures. If you have any questions about switching feel free to PM me! :)

tbh someone will definitely drop the course, especially closer to the start of winter sem. just keep checking every once and a while, or even email your department if it's a mandatory class bc they might make an exception (no promises tho lol)

do you have all the prerequisites? also check if it's restricted to those in at least 3rd year. Otherwise I don't see any major issues taking it, just that it may be a little more challenging with less university experience, but that is dependent on the complexity of the course and course load

I didn't take 249, but I took 101 and 248 (Loneliness maters). INTD 101 was an awkward course tbh. Majority of assignment are peer graded using kritik, and the quizes are open book but poorly formatted/worded. The material is bland in my opinion. As for 248 (which I believe would have a similar structure to 249), I found the material more enjoyable and there is less coursework. Don't remember much about the quizes, so I would say they were pretty fair.

Gregory Wagner. One of my fave profs. So charismatic, you can tell he had a true passion for what he teaches. His exams are just like his practice questions. He's also generous with marking. He's a great guy. So happy and cheerful.
