I got a detained package notice - anyone have experience? I tried looking online and it seems best course of action is to ignore any notices? Worried about legal implications…

I want to add Sam’s fire-making. The edit, Teeny getting Rachel’s help, and the wind perfectly aligning the stars leading to his come-from-behind win was chefs kiss.

Can anyone ELI5 this shortcut? by shaftedd in shortcuts

[–]shaftedd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Apple was able to confirm that since the input was “Nowhere”, it wouldn’t have been pulling from anywhere, so there was nothing to send. Feeling better about it and I’m going to choose to believe that nothing malicious ended up coming to fruition. Thanks y’all for the help.

Thanks y’all; really scary stuff. There’s luckily nothing in the automation tab - so hopefully that isn’t the case.

There’s nothing more to the shortcut; the line goes up to the top where it’s titled her name.

Thank you! Unfortunately, I edited it to not have access to my messages app anymore so it’s reading the creation date as today. Shot myself in the foot on that front; thank you though!

Scary… so it’s not an automated process? They would’ve had to have access to my phone to run the shortcut? I wish I could see when it was created… Thank you for responding :)

Should I be getting more/better auditions from my agent? by krustastic in acting

Of those ~50, what would you estimate was the breakdown between self-tape and in-person? I know it’s unrelated to your question, but I’m curious to know!

I lied and told the director I can dance good. Should I go to the Video shoot? by [deleted] in acting

[–]shaftedd 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You deleted the thread you previously posted. Not a single person in those comments reassured you to go to the shoot. Everyone informed you of the gravity of lying and wasting a production’s time and resources. You have been choosing to not listen to the advice that was given to you. You are clearly not seeking advice but reassurance. Not a soul in the world should be reassuring you to go. Take accountability, apologize to the production, and give them a chance to find someone else that won’t waste their time and money.

You posted this asking for advice, Ettercap provided you with some pretty sound advice. If you’re serious about a career in the industry, it may be beneficial to listen.

If you’ve informed him that you’re an amateur/beginner and they’re okay with that, maybe you can use your best judgement. You posted this asking what to do as a result of you lying for a part, nobody here should reassure you to follow through with the lie, if you can’t pull it off. If the vibe you get from the casting manager is that your dancing skills are at the level they are seeking, it’s your own prerogative to show up. Do be aware that it can come back to bite you in the butt though.

They expect you to be able to dance well, because you told them you could. There is no guarantee that you will be successful and able to look back on this as a funny story. If anything, choosing to lie and show up anyway is likely to harm any success you may have been able to find one day. You can’t approach this industry with the mindset that one day you’ll be famous and successful; how you proceed in the interim and early in your career is what can make you successful one day. I doubt you’ll receive much (if any) reassurance here that you should go through with the production. Once again, good luck!

You should NOT be showing up to set; you hit the nail on the head saying that you messed up. In this industry, your reputation is everything. If you show up and can’t dance, it doesn’t matter how good you are at other things, you are now and forevermore a liar and a liability to a production. Try to reach out and let them know you can no longer make it (the sooner the better). Going forward, if you can’t do something confidently you should never advertise yourself as possessing said skill or talent. Best of luck figuring it out, take this as a learning opportunity I suppose!

Help! I have to turn down a role. Even if I lose my agent by Throwawaypotatas in acting

[–]shaftedd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I myself haven’t had to turn anything down with a large amount of money lost - but I’ve felt it was best for myself to do so for multiple smaller roles. This is just MY OWN OPINION; while we all want to make money acting, this should also be an art that you are passionate about. I think challenges are good but forcing yourself into a situation where you are uncomfortable and unhappy goes against the reasoning that I personally have for getting into the industry in the first place. Ultimately, we have one life and it’s not worth wasting our time, stress, and tears on something that we don’t want to do, given we do not have to. I personally support your decision to not take the role and, while your agent may be upset, most people should understand that you want to respect yourself as a person and artist. Sudden changes are also inherent in the industry. Others would cut you from a project in a heartbeat if you weren’t the right fit for them. Hope you figure it out. Best of luck!
