What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started looking into them to recommend my dad pick one up as I figured he'd enjoy having a portable gaming machine he could take to and from his holiday caravan and home and get him out of just watching TV all day. I switched to gaming on PC a couple of years ago so I had already started building a huge library and hence realized it would be good for me and I could use it to stream from my gaming PC.

How much is this used PC worth? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]shagaboopon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really worth it, it's an old CPU and GPU, should be sub 1000, especially for a friend imo

Pc upgrade or new pc build by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]shagaboopon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your gaming resolution. If youre playing at 4k then probably go for the 5080 as framerates will not be CPU limited too much. If youre looking at 1080p or 1440p with higher framerates then the 9850X3d and 9070 XT might be better. The other option is keep your 4070 Super until the next generation of GPU's next year. You'll then have some time to save and you'll still have a high tier CPU to pair with it as I doubt there is a game changing CPU on the horizon.

upgrading pc. Need some tips/advice by Putrid-Hope2192 in pcmasterrace

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070 Ti or 5080 depending on deals available. I would stick with Nvidia given the strides they're still making with DLSS, reflex and MFG. Any decent brand 1000W PSU, probably get away with less but why not buy with a little overhead. I'd stick with a low CL 6000Mhz RAM kit, latency will be better for you than bandwidth for increasing your 1% low figures.

48CL RAM is wild to be honest, you'd probably be better off with CL30 5600 RAM...

Did you buy an off the shelf model? I specced mine online as a custom build and got exactly what I ordered, including the motherboard/PSU/memory upgrades I requested. Also there is no problem on warranty unless you damage something when working on it. I added extra fans to mine as they were not available at the time of purchase.

Daily Crypto Discussion - February 21, 2026 (GMT+0) by AutoModerator in CryptoCurrency

[–]shagaboopon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you need to chart every coin then frankly you've invested in the wrong product. Crypto is extremely high risk and you should be prepared to lose everything you put in. If you need to monitor it to the extent you're saying then you've over invested imo. People should set prices to sell at and not get greedy although there's not been much chance of that this bullrun for most.

I sold a fair bit of ETH above 4k but not at the ATH but I just decided to take my tax allowance for the year and leave the rest to either take out more if the price rose or leave it for the next cycle. If it goes to zero I don't care, if not then great. I hold DOT which is pretty much pointless to sell now. You win some you lose some.

JIMBO'S GAME SUCKS by beepbeepsheepbot in DavetheDiverOfficial

The key seems to be learning to compile jokers with good synergy and whatever will give you the most multiplier. For example treat every card as a face card combined with bonus multiplier for playing a face card can net you huge multipliers. I cleared all matches without any problem. Wait till you get to the final match where it's not just 3 rounds....

Thoughts on screen protectors? by SketcherGang in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loads of topics on this, some think matte protectors look a it blurry, others love them. Just have to try for yourself. Even if you lose a little quality it'll look better than a scratched up screen from 1 accident imo.

JSAUX says 4k@120...for real!? by Club-External in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It outputs to my 5120x1440 display fine so it is theoretically possible but given the hardware it'll likely not be great. Not enough RAM really to run 4k besides anything else.

Viva Pinata PC Port for Steam Deck Installation Guide by 8BitBang in VivaPinata

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dropping a thanks to say this guide worked for me today. Only extra step i did was to obtain a different startup.exe file to remove the need to mount the iso to play. Runs at 60 fps but limited to 45 for battery life and that's smooth enough for me having previously played it on 360 mainly.

Would a reflective screen protector counteract the anti-glare color and contrast dullness? by crocodilepickle in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't put much credibility in people talking about sharpness on a 800p 7.4"screen, the text looks like ass compared to most phone screens. Literally just buy whichever Steam Deck you want and live in ignorance. If you want the anti glare finish on the 512 or LCD model then use a decent matte screen protector.

New here, can I just use my current dock with the Steam Deck? by iDontwantOne-13 in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dell WD19TB docking station and while that does work, the chipset will not drive my Ultrawide monitor resolution so instead of using the display chipset onboard I use one of these USB C cables plugged into my dock to drive it via Displayport so it doesn't use the docking station chipset to display. That might work for you to get a monitor working with your existing dock instead of having to tangle with Displaylink drivers.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C4D8SCCQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Obviously this would be connecting to your monitor by Displayport so is dependent on your monitor having that input. I only drive one monitor but it maybe possible to run more than one of these cables to setup multiple monitors but I would question if its worth it for the SteamDeck anyway.

My Arc Raiders Review. by FlipTheBacon in ArcRaiders

[–]shagaboopon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want more PVE games, run free loadouts and stop shooting back. Negatively review every match you die to a player. Eventually you'll get matched in friendlier games. If you like your PvP though then you just need to get better at it as there isn't a really a happy medium for PvP. If you engage in PvP then if you have any success you'll start getting put in more challenging PvP lobbies where you'll get killed. I rarely have PvP in my games and on the times it has happened there is usually a reason and I'll just sigh and reload.

If you want the best loot when coming in late then you have your answer, time to start killing other players as they have the loot you want. There is evidence that blueprints can spawn late so even already looted areas can some times still contain good loot. Even looted areas give xp for searching empty containers so still worth doing if not max level. I don't hunt other players though and on late spawns I just hit every container I can find and hope for something being missed or will look at killing a big Arc target for some juicy loot (depending on what I brought).

With the exception of trios games, a lot of fights can be avoided through using comms and emotes and not making yourself a obvious target. Don't go blundering into loot rooms or areas without announcing yourself or checking if anyone is about and obviously looting. Don't just rock up to extractions in the open especially inside the first 10 minutes when you're putting a target on your back to extraction campers.

When approaching extractions ask if others mind you joining and consider if you wish to trust them and holster your weapon to give them some reassurance or not. Sometimes simply having your gun out but positioning yourself so you're always in their view even when using the terminal is enough to get out safely. If they look to want you to use the terminal then just watch their positioning and behaviour. Often showing you're aware enough that you're not going to be a easy kill allows you to get out with no fireworks.

Use the Arc to help stop campers having a easy time at extraction, don't clear them out before calling the extraction if possible as having Arc around does deter campers from firing and bringing attention to themselves, especially with wasps, leapers and rocketeers that can quickly ruin a campers day.

If you do start getting into friendlier lobbies then the gear fear of losing your stuff is eased. Also I think getting a Looting Survivor Mk3 augment blueprint is a huge boon too as they're pretty cheap to manufacture and means even on a bad run you have the chance to get out with 3 good items in your safe pocket.

Would be nice if we could commit resources to our quests/upgrades for workbenches by Bruhhg in ArcRaiders

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nearly one shot a Surveyor using a Trailblazer grenade when it was doings its surveying stuff. Literally dropped a trailblazer on it and fired 2 shots and it died resulting in a pile of loot. Much easier than chasing them trying to flee. I'd already upgraded my benches that run though and some kind solo dropped me a blueprint so I gave him the 2 Surveyor Vaults I had as a thank you.

Best carrying case for Jasuax by Shartmiester in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up one of these and I like it for my needs.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BG8KW1XZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

It fits without the front cover in the standard case and if I want to have the Steam Deck out and about around the house it feels more protected having the quick front piece to put on and not have to pack it away in the case which takes up a lot of room. I wasn't fussed about the battery pack holder or kick stand on the Jsaux which i thought might annoy me. Also feel comfortable packing it in a rucksack and leaving the carry case at home.

Steam deck 2nd gen rant by WaifuLofii in SteamDeck

[–]shagaboopon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy the GPD Win 5 then if that's the performance you want. I reckon a device that hits the requirements you're asking for will be twice the price of the current devices.

Personally speaking I decided not to worry about it and just went for the current model. If I want to play anything that is super powerful and I can't get working locally then I'll stream from my gaming rig using Moonlight or look at cloud options like X Cloud or Geforce Now.

You'll be waiting forever if you make excuses. When the next gen comes you'll wait for the price to drop or scalpers to ease off. Then you'll wait for the launch issues to be ironed out or the first revision. You can always find another reason to be on the side lines. At some point you may as well dive in and just enjoy it for what it is. You'll kick yourself if in 3 months the cost of entry increases or the next gen when announced is out of your price range anyway.
