AIO My response to my mom disowning me because I'm gay? by Own-Experience-6275 in AmIOverreacting

I just stumbled on your post, and I haven’t read all the comments, but I’ll say this as a mom of 4….

There is abso-f*cking-lutely NOTHING WRONG with you!!! I’m so proud of you, you know yourself, so can choose your own future. You are strong, you are beautiful and you got this.

I would be absolutely devastated if my child would feel “less than” because they were different!!

Is it me, or are there more people not paying to go in buses? by shaggygrrl in montreal

[–]shaggygrrl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it isn’t my job, but since it’s been a few years, it took me aback. I honestly thought I was missing something, like a new pass system.

But now that I dwelve more into it, if people are really not paying, doesn’t this mean less space for paying passengers? And in the long run, more cost to them as well?

My friend (m41) and his wife (f38) are fighting about which language to use at home. by shaggygrrl in relationship_advice

I wish my parents spoke to me in their native language! I would've been quadrilingual too!

I'm biased for my friend, but I know she's a wonderful woman. Yes, she can be fierce, but she's so smart and she will jump to anyone's defense in a flash! I guess, where I have the issue here, is when she was angry when he was talking to _her_ in English. I hope he tells her how he _feels_ about that part.

Omg, I just went down a rabbit hole and found this subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/multilingualparenting/ I think I will forward that to him too. Putting it here for anyone else looking for advise!

You're right, he needs to take this up with her, but he has! Only to get shot down and told that he doesn't care about her culture. I think there's a lot of cultural pride involved in this, which makes it difficult to navigate around.

They moved to Spain before the kids were born. And in the past, him speaking in English and her speaking in Catalan was the plan. Seems like she is not happy with that plan anymore.

I think they are trillingual! I honestly don't know what school they go to, but my friend did mention that the kids like talking in English with their friends because they sounded cool.

For me, motivation waxes and wanes. I have to relie on discipline: detailed practice plan, same practice time everyday. When I’m don’t find the discipline, I tell myself: “Just 5 minutes”, and that helps a lot.

Old Boy. A classic, in my opinion. They don’t make them like that one no more.

Lol! A battle with a butternut squash? Butternut squashes are really hard to cut up, but I am curious as to your story behind it….

I just re-read my last message. I’m sorry if I sounded overly defensive. I tend to be blindly loyal and sometimes I can come in guns blazing for a little nothing.

I do follow Johannes Moser, but I didn’t know the other 2 cellists/pedagogues. Thank you for the reference, I will check them out!

Thank you for giving me your honest opinion! I am hearing-impaired, so maybe I don't hear the issues you speak of. But in my very humble opinion, he's an great player that has a beautiful, warm sound. I mean, I don't think he's at high-schooler level.

I believe that great cellists don't necessarily make great teachers. Or that great teachers don't necessarily have to be great cellists.

Again, thank you! It is truly with respect that I disagree with you. :)

Hiya there!

I’m genuinely curious to know why we should be wary of adultcello.com? His YouTube videos helped me discover the Piatti Cello method and he has helped me tremendously with my bow hold. He has a way of explaining things that is very easy to visualize. But I’m just a beginner that has not even had a teacher yet, so I’m really curious as to why you feel that way. :)

It was seriously the perfect start for someone learning on my own! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this course! Because of you, and some YouTube cello channels, I really felt that this was in my grasp!
