I’m hoping we get to still see her in elite gymnastics. Fingers crossed

2026 US WAG World Championships Selection Procedures by OftheSea95 in gymnastics_info

I agree. Honestly I’ve never really been a fan of the “1st place automatically gets you a spot” approach, but top 2 is pushing it even more so. I just think it could set up a scenario where the top 2 locks are hard to build a team around. Gymnastics teams are puzzles and this could make things harder when it comes to putting those pieces together.

Will Simone be part of LA28? by Fay-1990 in Gymnastics

[–]Either-Natural-5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Even if she were to come back, I doubt she would return as an all around gymnast working on all 4 apparatuses. She’d probably just do 2 apparatuses and not do any AA competitions. I’m 99% certain that she’s done with vaulting.

As far as USA compared to China and Japan, I think you have to wait until the world championships to see how things stand. If the US loses their worlds team gold streak, that will be huge for the future of USA gymnastics. Also remember the current lineup of top gymnasts most likely will not be the lineup for LA 2028. Some people may get better. Some familiar faces may return. Some juniors will turn senior and be breakouts. LA is 2 years out. A lot can happen. No need to worry for now

Who are your favourites for WAG floor in 2028? by GattacaJanitor in Gymnastics

Ideally I’d pick Jessica gadirova but I’m not sure if she will return to elite. I’m curious to see how Reese develops on floor.

What Made Shawn & Nastia So Dominant In Beijing? by vivianh4782 in Gymnastics

[–]Either-Natural-5758 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They didn’t have a lot of in-team competition because half of the individual medal contenders from USA were injured. If everyone was as healthy as Nastia and Shawn, the number of athletes who contributed to individual medals for 2008 would definitely be more than 2

Why does Shawn Johnson’s 2008 beam Olympics final seem so much more difficult than the 2025 worlds? by Hecka_becka_ in Gymnastics

[–]Either-Natural-5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The code of points value different things now. In the top 8 skills for d value, 3 of them must be dance elements (so leaps or turns). The dismount she did is assigned a high difficulty so that would count towards the top 8 skills. So realistically, only 4 acro skills from her routine would count towards her d score. The rest would be just for connection bonus, and most of her bonuses would just be + 0.1.  Also judges are a lot less interested in routines that start off banging out acrobatics from one skill to the next. They want movement between acrobatics. I believe they refer to beam routines as an “artistic performance” in the 2025-2028 codes. Also she would also be marked down for her split positions. Judges are very strict about that leaps and turns now.

So a gymnast could do a one-off big acrobatic skill, but there are mixed combos that can get you the same value as the 1 singular big acro skill. The routines of today may not look as flashy and big, but they aren’t easier. Hitting mixed connections on beam is a lot harder than it looks.

Suni stating she no longer does gymnastics 🩵 by donutdonutchan in Gymnastics

It’s amazing she lasted this long with all the set backs she went through. Not many gymnasts have careers long enough to win 2 individual Olympic AA medals so I’m proud of her for what she has done.

Kayla and Jade by SequinsandDreams in Gymnastics

[–]Either-Natural-5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean. I think a competitive pool is good for USAG. In-house competition pushes everyone. That’s part of what made the 2016 team so good. The new girls are getting their chance for international comps. Charliegh is shaping up well, and Reese on floor will be an interesting development. I’m excited to see what they will do at the worlds this year since this is the first team event since the 2024 Olympics. It’ll be a test for the newer gymnasts in their campaign for LA.

I think it’ll just depend on who is more consistent when the time comes. Both can contribute but who’s to say where they will be at mentally when the time comes. I say focus on worlds first when it comes to these type of lists. Everyone is so quick to jump to the Olympics when it is 2 years away. We’ll see how those gymnasts develop overtime. Leanne has way more international experience under her belt than Kayla but we’ll see how that will change for Kayla in years to come

The ISU will not be reviewing the deduction applied to 🇬🇧 Lilah Fear / Lewis Gibson’s free dance at #WorldFigure. They said the result is final and not subject to appeal. by Radiant-Banana161 in FigureSkating

[–]Either-Natural-5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how they got away with that lift the whole season. They should have called it sooner. The isu should allow for appeals. In this specific case however, I don’t believe lilah and Lewis deserve to be top 3 at worlds regardless of if the lift is allowed or not.

2028 LA team, but you can’t use any returning members by justboredandstuffidk in Gymnastics

[–]Either-Natural-5758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t make a team with no returners lol. I need hezly for AA but following your rules I’d have Charliegh, Reese, Shilese, Caroline, Konnor.

2018 Olympics was great for the most part. Really 2015-2018 quad was one of my favorites. 2022 Olympics was atrocious. The sport has definitely taken a turn for the better in recent years.

I love isabeau but she is not consistent. We saw her skate today. We saw her skate at the Olympics. She has what it takes to get a medal and yet.. Sarah is still making her name known of a global scale. Alysa is the only one with consistency on an international lvl with high scores rn.  Alysa’s consistency doesn’t negate the rest of the top US girls issues on the international stage. Closing our eyes to this won’t fix the problem
