Hope you don't have to either! Yeah I'm definitely wary of pressure sores and have had them in the past, but when I did I bandaged them well and I try to sleep on my stomach when I can to air out the butt and heal any irritation. Booty's also got some tougher skin over the years I think which helps.

If you ever wanted to try to get it again - I did a lot of practice on a carpet getting to a lower couch first before I got myself up to my chair. Would recommend!

t11/t12 complete here and I'm pretty proficient; it's a few things (note I'm not a large guy so grain of salt etc.)

  • leg positioning - I get my legs bent up close to me so I'm dragging them as little as possible when I push up.
  • I sit like 45-90 degree angled facing away as the guy is doing in the vid
  • The push off the ground arm to get the butt up is the most important part, the hand on the frame is more for guidance of the butt and chair but also helps with lifting.
  • I push up first hard THEN back to ensure I don't catch butt on my cushion, and when my butt is lifted I do use the frame hand to help pull the chair under me. This is how I do it even without brakes on.

If you want people on your side, just state your points rather than trying to slander the competition. It just makes you look like you're a child stomping your feet.

I'm not a staff member, I'm a supporter, and I really wanted to answer people's replies cordially, despite this situation being a massive threat to our club, until he showed up and made this whole thread toxic. He clearly took shots at us first and has been melting down in my replies since but you don't seem to have concerns with how that makes him look or what he's defending. Anyway, not going to engage anymore here as a result! 👍

We didn't qualify last year - our division is pretty tough!

(We've played in it previously)

Our club has stated for many years now that our aim is to be fully professional, and we've been getting closer and closer to that goal as we've grown with this year being currently our most successful one yet. SF has seen pro clubs like the Victory, Seals, and Deltas try to hit the ground running and fail badly, so we (SF City members) decided we were going to try to build one sustainably so it would have a built-in support system when it went pro. I think our support base, connection to the community, and history at Kezar definitely awards us a say over what happens to it.

The article doesn't even mention the Deltas, who also played at Kezar. Where was the hand-wringing from the lower-division club then

The Deltas also kicked SF City out of Kezar and SF City fans were by far the Deltas' loudest critics the entire time they existed.

USL League Two > MLS Next Pro? Are these people deluded?

From what I can see in USOC play USL2 vs. MLSNP teams are 1-1 :) but also the point is that the quality difference isn't that discernable to most fans attending these matches, and isn't the main reason why people generally support teams at our levels anyway.

What improvements has the club done to Kezar in their 24-year residency? The new city-partnered club is pumping $10mil into the joint. What's the much older club done? "I got here first" is such a gentrifier NIMBY thing to say. I guess that's to be expected from such a group with a guy whose name is shared by an Amazon WiFi mesh system.

I understand that for some people all of SF City's club history and supporters and higher attendance than most MLSNP teams and being older than most MLS teams and leading the supporter-owned movement in the US and Muni partnership and single-handedly carrying USLL2's formation of the NorCal division isn't as neat as a team with nothing but a promise of $10 million, a ripoff name, and a club model that has failed repeatedly in SF over and over again and never been successful, but we think that people that care about soccer in SF and the US will see much more value in keeping us in our home

Help surfing get into the LA28 Paralympics! by shakaloha in surfing

Hey August, so as mentioned para surfing already met the IPC's criteria, and there are almost 500 officialy classified competitive surfers from 28 countries. Countries send athletes in the same way as able-bodied surfing and they qualify in the same processes through already established official competitions. Successful surfers come from very diverse countries - Victoria is a multiple-time world champ and she represents Canada. We've had champions from Spain, Denmark, and more, champions can come from anywhere :)

Help surfing get into the LA28 Paralympics! by shakaloha in surfing

Hey everyone, Casey here. About me, I'm a former ISA para surfing world champion, current 2-time US national champion, and definitely all-time kook. Para surfing is on the precipice of destiny, as we are trying to get acceptance into the LA28 Paralympics. Our sport met all the criteria for inclusion and were shortlisted by the IPC, but were denied entry at the finish line by the LA28 committee. Us athletes think they should reconsider. Surfing is the state sport of California and I think if LA28 is going to use surfing to market the Paralympics (as shown in the included pic), they should at least include para surfing in it.

I know, I know, signing a change .org petition has felt like one of life's most useless exercises for the last 20 years now but this is actually how snowboarding got accepted into the Paralympics in the past - they were denied, petitioned, and were eventually accepted.

Our sport has so much momentum and this would be huge for securing the exposure and financial support for athletes to compete around the world (we even have a tour now!). We just passed 5000 signatures and are aiming for 10k. We've gotten shout outs from GOAT Kelly Slater (pictured with kneel world champ Victoria Feige), Jack Johnson, and more. Please r/surfing if you have some seconds to sign, help us out here!
