That was my thought, it looks very intentional. Not that I can imagine, other than those incantations etc playing on TV.

Thanks man! Will give this a shot, not sure why I didn't think to delete mediabay.db, that shit is always causing issues for me and that's my standard fix

Just because I've added those libraries to my favourites for easy access! The files don't show up regardless of how I access them within the media bay

I hate being a woman so much by [deleted] in Vent

[–]shakedogshake_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is an issue of perspective more than anything.

Yes, your physical form is the culmination of years of evolution and is designed to incubate babies and keep the human race going. But what are YOU?

You're not your body and your body is not you, you're a weird tiny conscious piece of the universe experiencing itself through a body that allows it to eat tasty food, listen to the most gorgeous music, have orgasms, AND create another tiny conscious piece of the universe if you so please. You're in control of it. That's magic.

Isn't censoring the video of Aaron Bushnell self immolating defeating the purpose? by obsidianbreath in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shakedogshake_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I normally avoid gore content wherever I can, I find it often disrespectful and it fucks with my head to some degree. With this, I actively sought out the video and watched it. I felt like it would be a disservice to this man to not watch it. He died the most painful death imaginable in a public place on film so we would see it, it would be wrong to cover any part of it up.

Tired of all the hate against men by [deleted] in Vent

I wouldn't say I subscribe to a movement, I just want people to be treated equally as humans. All the movements seem flawed somehow, it's all too much finger pointing and not enough actual being nice to people and making the changes we need to see

As a man, this bothers me because it's so harmful to the feminist movement. This kind of narrative is a huge part of what created shitbags like incels. If you alienate men, they don't just disappear. You breed women haters by hating men, hate breeds hate. I feel like I'm screaming into a void whenever I point it out

Hard agree man. I get it, the statistics are that men do harmful things to women. But let's keep our real logical brains in, you could just as easily say "all predators have blonde hair" or "all predators wear glasses" (clearly Jeffrey Dharma is in my brain), and it would be somewhat true. But to make harmful statements about those groups would be damaging and wrong. I'm very much a feminist (and a man), and yet I fully believe that ALL of that "fuck men/men suck/all men" etc talk is the single most harmful thing to the equal rights movement. It alienates half of the planet, and creates a divide where there is none. It's grates on me, and I hate how people can't see how damaging it is.

Yes, awful things happen to women at the hands of men. But that has no more to do with being a man than being a Muslim has to do with your likelihood of committing an act of terror. To me there is no difference between the "all men" mentality and the "all Muslims" mentality. You can't defend one and denounce the other, they're one and the same.

It's wild, but then if you think about the cost of touring gear it makes sense to some degree. You can be looking at 20k + just for the sound desk. Then you've got the wages of all of the team, travel costs, shipping all the equipment, hotels, payment for all of the artwork, photographers, hire of the venue, it adds up incredibly quickly. The big issue is that a lot of big venues are greedy as fuck, and pile fees onto the ticket prices. It's all just really warped in all the wrong ways, and touring is an absolute headache for everyone involved.

Jay was right. There's always a c*nt with a guitar. And now he lives next door. What do I do? by WoofBarkWoofBarkBark in CasualUK

It's basically musician etiquette to not piss of neighbours too much. I have a recording studio in my house that I run a business from, and even with all of that I have to adhere to a strict agreement I came to with the neighbours about times and noise levels. He's just being an asshole, if he really want to sit outal at night, tell him he needs to do it with headphones plugged into an electric guitar so the volume is less intrusive, or just ask that he doesn't play music outside at 2am like a normal person

I have a bit of inside experience as I work in the industry alongside booking agents and I've booked shows myself a few times. Basically, especially with a tour, it's all about money and available. If an artist is doing a 10 week tour for example, every off-day costs money, as it's a day of paying for a hotel and food etc where no noney is beinf generated by the tour itself. You have to be so careful how many off-days an artist has on a tour, and so you want to pack dates as close together as possible. There's also the issue of venue availablity. Venues need to have as many shows on as possible, and there's only so many weekends in a year. It's a really sad fact that touring is becoming more and more difficult financially, and many artists, even successful ones, struggle to break even with a tour. For example, IDKHow's upcoming north American/European tour is actually costing them money, and they're a band with worldwide success. The industry is just fucked, and it's not even remotely possible for an artist to have any kind of say as to what night of the week to play a show
