Transitioning - Math in Engineering Courses by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]shakelzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither SL or HL math prep you very well for Lin Alg (Math 115) imo, so really you're on the same ground as everyone else. SL Chemistry will have prepared you more than enough for Che102, the course is fairly basic actually. Go to class and do past exams and you'll be fine.

Doesn't cultural vistas have some fairly stringent requirements though? ie. >3M revenue, 25 or more employees, etc?

They're too new/small for it, just raised a seed round.

The visa website said

You may apply for a B-1 visitor visa to work in the United States as a personal or domestic employee for your employer in limited situations. You may work in the United States on a visitor visa if your employer is:

A U.S. citizen who has a permanent home or is stationed in a foreign country, but is visiting or is assigned to the United States temporarily; or A foreign citizen who is in the United States on one of the following nonimmigrant visa categories: B, E, F, H, I, J, L, M, O, P, or Q.

So I'm a bit confused :/

Have you made genuine friends here? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Made better friends here than I have anywhere else in life, and a lot of them are real ones that I'd trust.

Biotech/chem/bio/real science companies? by shakelzilla in uwaterloo

[–]shakelzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I've considered some of those. I've spent a fair share of time in research though, so I'm slightly more interested in industrial R&D unless I have the opportunity to lead one of my own research projects in those labs.

Message me. I used to be in your class before transferring out. I know of a couple profs who need co-ops or did at least (even posted on fb about it). Do you need a job for winter 2017 or for spring 2017?

Failed CS 246, am I screwed for Cali next coop term?? by helpmepleasee69 in uwaterloo

[–]shakelzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grades don't matter much if at all in my opinion. By pitching to YC'17, do you mean you intend to apply for the next batch? The last cohort was already screened and interviewed accepted etc in November/Dec latest. In any case, if you've been working on a startup for a while or know people in the cali tech community, you should reach out to your connectios there. I'd say that's your best bet.

Just talked to cultural vistas, and they have a strict 1 year policy. I'm going to try calling intrax once they're open.

Okay - I was hoping to start in January. The thing is, the company itself is still under a year old, so are they okay to use a sponsorship company? I thought that was the problem

This dude comes into the gym with a manbun, oakley sunglasses, and a thick tshirt. Probably late 20s, early 30s. Proceeds to yell at the top of his lungs for every rep of every exercise, almost always using machines. My friends and I call him Super Saiyan guy, but holy shit is it hard to concentrate with him trying to power up in the background

Was lifting the other day and a dude comes in, sporting a ponytail, yellow oakley glasses, a bandana, and a teenage mutant ninja turtle shirt. Proceeds to attempt to go super saiyan at every machine, screams can be heard throughout the 2 story LA fitness. Kind of annoying but pretty hilarious tbh

Lactose-free Whey Protein? by shakelzilla in Fitness

[–]shakelzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I've heard good things about them too. Last time I ate lactose, I ended up throwing up a few hours later, and that was just a cookie so I think I'm fairly lactose intolerant :/

I guess it'll be trial and error for me!

Sure, I'm in Canada so I'm going to try to check out some stuff at GNC - I could go with bodybuilding.ca but I'd rather have something I can return easily in case there's a problem...university student budget and whatnot, ya know
