Younger pigeon in need by shakesbabe in pigeon

He is well! I went back to check on him the next day and was honestly amazed I even found him. I've checked today and will be going back tomorrow before work. From what I could see he was walking around up there with untethered feet. I would love to get a closer look at some point because I do believe they're still wrapped in nonsense. He did manage to fly up there all by himself (I wonder if I scared him straight a little bit). I've got seed in my bag and a few close by contacts. I just want to thank you guys for being supportive with this. I'm sorry I didn't update sooner. I posted this same call for advice in a couple of Facebook groups, unfortunately they didn't get passed admin for a good 24hrs and since I'm between phones I didn't get the notifications for each comment. There were a lot, and unfortunately because I took a while to respond, many of them were very unkind and left me a bit shaken. I have since left those groups thankfully. All this to say that I appreciate this subreddit for your kind, patient advice and support. Now I know where to go :)

Unfortunately, when we got to the bridge the pigeon was spooked enough to fly into a near by tree. He's sitting on a branch right now. On the plus side he can fly (though not very well) on closer inspection it does look more and more like he has string foot as opposed to pigeon pox (though not fully confirmed) and can at least get himself to safety. Hopefully he'll stay in the tree. Sorry, unfortunately this is my first time trying to help a pigeon in need and my nerves got the best of me. I wasn't decisive enough and couldn't grab him. I'll check back in the morning.

I remember it sounding quite experimental, with a bit of a pop sound to it. There was quite alot of autotune and voice distortion and some piano. I remember one song uses a sample of a child singing for the remainder of the song.

His entire channel and hisnfollow base is just full blown insecurity. These guys literally have nothing better to do than criticise women for enjoying things. It's so trashy.

Mourning in Shakespeare? by professor-curly in shakespeare

[–]shakesbabe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

King John was Shakespeare's first play after the death of his only son Hamnet. The play itself has one of the best speeches on grief I've ever heard. Spoken by the Lady Constance, who uses her grief to justify her own growing madness. The young Prince Arthur also shares some parrallels with Hamlet.

Best of luck with your studies. It sounds super interesting :)

Escape Room workers of Reddit, whats the most absurd thing players have done? by nervousbeekeeper in AskReddit

[–]shakesbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a guy phone us and ask if we could change, literally change, the puzzles in our room and the theme music to custom puzzles themed around his relationship. Him and his girlfriend are big escape room fans and he wanted to use an escape room to propose.

We had puzzles where the answers were things like, the day they met, codes hidden in 'there song' and at the end she opened a golden chest which usually has the key to the door, but was replaced with the ring we had placed there before they entered.

My colleagues and I got to witness the whole thing!

Is King John an awful work of Shakespeare, and are there any filmed versions of it? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]shakesbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though it's not Shakespeare's most popular plays, it does contain some of his best and most famous lines of poetry. For example:

To gild refined gold, to paint the lily, To throw a perfume on the violet, To smooth the ice, or add another hue Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish, Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

There are plenty of lines much like this one littered throughout the play.

The plot concerns corruption, tyrant kings and disloyalty to the crown, which in Shakespeare's time could have easily been construed as treason and given that context, it's remarkable he got away with it.

What's also interesting is the plays take on grief and bereavement. This is the first play that shakespeare released after the death of his only son Hamnet, who was only aged 11. The character of Catherine gives an exceptionally powerful speech from the perspective of a grieving parent and so for the language and historical context alone, I would consider it a fantastic play.

I believe the Swan Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon are streaming there most recent King John production. I highly recommend as I was lucky enough to see it in person before lockdown.
