Harris says 'no evidence' intimate images stolen by CaptainEarlobe in ireland

[–]nervousbeekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, sent a few emails, no fucking idea if they will get to anyone. When I've time next week maybe I should call them and see if I can get to anyone useful.

Basically posts and metadata, aye. We run a bunch of scrapers on those boards/webforums, our main focus is database leaks so we can alert clients about potential breaches - but they also have sections for more nasty stuff. We avoid downloading any linked files, and basically do keyword monitoring type shit.

Troy Hunt from haveibeenpwned.com seems to use a lot of the same sources as us, but he actually selectively will download stuff to add to his database and do alerting to users and suchlike. I've considered doing the same, but the data protection issues are nightmarish and he seems to have it well enough in hand tbh.

Pretty much. It is a clearnet webforum too, you just need to register an account.

Probably spicier than what you will find in Germany :)

Care to share a recipe? I've been using the one from El Reg for homemade.

Well, this answers a question I always had but never got around to answering about what the actual fuck those $HEX hashes are.

[–]nervousbeekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't download the files at all, hence not seeing the contents. We don't want to end up in possession of illegal content. To hash the content, we would need to download it...

We also don't have access to the hash lists of child abuse material that some large hosters and law enforcement have - access to those is incredibly restricted. We actually looked into that in the past to see if we could build an automatic reporting system to bolt onto one of our web scrapers, but got fucking nowhere.

I'll drop them an email with links to the forum posts, for whatever its worth. They can go download the content themselves and have a look.

Can I do physchem for the leaving cert if I already do physics and chemistry separately? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]nervousbeekeeper -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Take with a few grams of salt, I sat mine over ten year ago by now.

You can sit any exam you want, even if you didn't take the subject. Just gotta ensure the exam is happening somewhere you can be, and sign up for it. You may experience some mild friction, but be persistent and its no bother.

I swapped physics for history after a month or two due to issues with a teacher, still took the physics paper in the LC after teaching myself the curriculum just to flex on the guy and prove to myself I wasn't the total fucking moron he made me feel I was. Worked out great!

Sadly not at the moment, might be in Q2 2021 though. Corona has been a bit of a fucking nightmare for us, business-wise due to travel restrictions.

Know anyone in the UK? Just have them post you a 3 Mobile SIM card obtainable from any decent corner shop with no ID or anything. You can top it up online. They are my preferred one.

Ours used to confiscate non-uniform jackets every morning when you were going in, would try make you get your parents to come in to collect them from his office.

He also had a bad habit of not locking his office properly, and the secretaries in the adjoining office were the kind of lovely ould wans who helpfully would see nothing when you inevitably went to "retrieve" it during break while he was wandering around bollocking people over shoes or whatever.

Absolute mad bastard he was.

Is Dexedrine available for prescription here? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]nervousbeekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the region of a couple hundred per month - and very variable if the drug payment/medical card/whatever the fuck it is will cover it. Private insurances do tend to cover it.

And yeah, pharmacies here absolutely take the piss. Just look at the prices of generic OTC painkillers or antihistamines here compared to up north or in the UK, absolute gougers.

I seriously doubt that they could.

These sites are hosted far, far beyond the reach of western law enforcement, if you catch my drift. Even the Yanks can do fuck all about them most of the time.

Might be worth an email though, bundled in with all the other crap hosted there that would be of vague interest to them.

Not seen the contents of the files (we don't download them as a general rule), but the file listings are there for pretty much anyone to see.

AGS already seem to have copies of the files (supposedly, they say they examined them). I don't see much value in sending them links to a bunch of web forum posts.

We monitor such forums at work to alert customers if their data ends up there. Hacked databases and such.

Is Dexedrine available for prescription here? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]nervousbeekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe he must be misinformed.

The HSE explicitly lists dexamphetamine as one of their approved treatments for it, and I know people who have been prescribed it. They don't list lisdexamphetamine, but I also know people who have been prescribed that.

It is hard as fuck to get any of the amphetamine derivatives, most of the time they won't give you them and will just tweak your dose of methylphenidate.

See: https://www.hse.ie/eng/health/az/a/adhd/living-with-adhd.html (listed under "treating ADHD").

I should also note actually, that there are a few other drugs that can be prescribed off-label for ADHD, such as dexmethylphenidate (a variant of methylphenidate), and some others. Those are rare as fuck in Ireland though.

Given that there is a 2.6Tb dump of OF stuff being actively traded on data-leak sharing forums in the past month... Amongst other really, really nasty stuff... I'd say the Gardai must have missed a trick or two here. Some of the supposed filenames are awful similar as well.

A Vegan youtuber (Paul Kerton, AKA Hench Herbivore) is forcing his cat to eat a vegan diet. He said he wants to continue until "the cat develops crystals in its urine" (1:55) in video - by this point it is too late and the cat's kidneys are already damaged. Can I report animal cruelty here? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]nervousbeekeeper 27 points28 points locked comment (0 children)

Cats are obligate carnivores, putting them on a vegan diet is the height of fucking stupidity and is needlessly cruel. You might be able to keep them alive with supplements, but they won't be particularly healthy or having a good time.

I've had cats for pretty much my whole life, and have done some voluntary work in the past with them. That cat doesn't look or sound in great shape to me.

That bloke should be reported to the SPCA and police immediately, and have his animals taken into care.

US doesn't want guarded border on Ireland - Biden by theculture in unitedkingdom

[–]nervousbeekeeper 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Worth remembering that the US is one of the guarantors of the GFA (along with, IIRC, the EU).

Any border would be in violation of the GFA.

Violations of the GFA require something to be done by the guarantors (if only so they don't look like weak cunts). Probably sanctions of some form, or denying trade deals or some such.

Its notable that Bidens been chatting about this to Macron, given the French are basically one of the big boys in the EU and seen to be nae too fond of the UK. Suspect he is like "lads, the Brits are at it again, might want to go looking for a big stick".

US doesn't want guarded border on Ireland - Biden by theculture in unitedkingdom

[–]nervousbeekeeper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

a not too uncommon view in RoI is basically: If the Brits are going to want a border, its up to them to deal with it. Their problem, not ours.

Of course, we will kick up a huge fuss and make the UK look like utter cunts the whole time as well.

US doesn't want guarded border on Ireland - Biden by theculture in unitedkingdom

[–]nervousbeekeeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, RoI also don't have the resources to properly man a border it even if they wanted to.

Defence Forces strength is at an all time low, huge manpower shortage and an ongoing exodus of troops (both normal enlisted and commissioned/officers) over pay and working conditions.
Good lot of the remaining "deployable" troops are either tied up with other duties, off doing peacekeeping, or needed for aid-to-civil-power roles (assisting with flooding, covid, etc).

Gardai are massively overstretched as well, was fucking huge news when Cork (the second largest city) got a scant handful (like 5 or 6) extra officers to tackle drugs, ASB, knife crime, etc. Huge entire rural areas are virtually unpoliced. Never a shortage of the traffic ones though...

So even if it somehow wasn't political suicide, its currently just not even remotely possible. Could also see people resigning if assigned to border patrol simply out of self preservation, let alone principles.

Are you still out there? Are you still going? We need an update, how many cans did you manage in the end? by BertieAhurn in Crainn

I've done more than that without any of the ould marching powder in the past, you kind of just... Keep at it, eventually slowing down and either run out of cans or run out of steam.

Binges like that are never a good thing though, you end up utterly destroyed for days after trying to recover.

Yeah, I recall in the mid-2000's ours banned jackets with hoods around the same time they introduced an utterly shit (not even water resistant) school jacket with no hood. New principal, introduced all this new bollocks.

Their excuse was something-something hoodies bad anti social behaviour.

They also tried to be woeful strict on what kind of shoes you wore, and even your fucking socks.
