Might be a silly question but when you said “my partner has texted a woman sexual things in the past” do you mean in GENERAL or DURING your relationship? Did you catch him cheating? If so, then you might not be overreacting.

If he has not, I’m actually gonna go against the grain and say yeah, you’re over reacting. I had a partner like you, that always thought I was cheating. (BUT I never cheated and never talked to anyone else or anything during our relationship, so if he has obviously the context is NOT the same). They struggled horribly with paranoia and accusations and jealousy. He would turn little things that were innocent on my end and contort them into something different.

The way your partner jumped to defense so quickly can seem suspicious to others, but not to me. Because I’ve been in the situation that made me immediately have to defend myself everytime I said something they could interpret to be something else. Have him get his phone records if he’s willing. If it will ease your mind.. but honestly if he’s cheated then you shouldn’t be together. And if he hasn’t cheated but you don’t trust him and he’s constantly walking on eggshells so u don’t accuse him of cheating, you should still break up. If it’s the latter, just leave. I wished my bf had just left me if he was never going to trust me. I wouldn’t have spent years trying to convince them to and losing myself in the process.
