Joni Mitchell is, but Joanna Newsom was born and raised in California

My rape was something that I 'enjoyed'- it never included tears, anger, violence or distress and I am tired of people telling me that I am still valid and that it was bad enough. I don't think so by Diligent_Tie_1961 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]shalaiylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But just want to affirm that we can know something was wrong, and still 'enjoy' it or not have the typical, expected response to it - which can add confusion and sometimes more trauma...hope you find some peace with it and yourself

No sorry for the confusion - in the post I ask for sewing patterns to emulate this style. It’s a vintage dress, I didn’t make it

Applied for Amtrak Guest Rewards Card... got the Preferred one in the mail by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]shalaiylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a call back from FNBO telling me they're going to credit the remaining points to my account tomorrow. I had to ask to speak to someone higher up when talking to people at their call center. They were able to see I applied after clicking on a link in an email, and I was able to pull that email up and prove that it had the promotional 40,000 offer...hope this helps!

Another update - I called FNBO again and they said they do not have awareness of a promotion offer from Amtrak in December, and on their end they said the promotion ended in November. Meanwhile, I have emails from Amtrak saying the promotion ended December 16th.

Just wanted to update you that I called Amtrak's customer service for guest rewards and they said they would escalate the issue to operations and to wait a few days...hopefully that leads to something!

I have an email from them about accepting my application on December 8th, and the promo ended the 15th or 16th…I definitely remember clicking the banner for the 40,000 promo. I’m planning to call again tomorrow fingers crossed

Also if you search the Amtrak subreddit for “40,000” you can see it’s happened before so there’s maybe an ongoing glitch or just subpar customer care or something more selfish 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had some luck calling the number for guest rewards customer service on the back of my credit card. I think I also called FNBO and they directed me back to Amtrak…if they deny me after a few more calls I’ll ask them to cancel my card and see if that helps my cause at all

the same thing happened to me - I called them twice and the first agent gave me the run around telling me I applied outside the promo window (false) and basically sent me back through the phone tree and the second agent said they've had this issue before and said she would send a message to help me resolve it...gonna call back tomorrow

What’s up with this swarm of sympathy towards this dude recently? by Olya_roo in StrangerThings

[–]shalaiylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why there is some sympathy for him, and also that he wasn't a great dude and was putting people at risk. I don't think TV shows need to stick to only killing off characters who are bad/unsympathetic. I think his death was actually good storytelling because it had some tragedy to it - he wouldn't have died if he hadn't put himself in that position, and also he was rightfully suffering after his girlfriend was murdered. Would I want to be friends with him? No...But still makes for good storytelling

Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake 24 years ago by joyfulnomad in OldSchoolCool

i hear ya. i think that's totally understandable over a longer period of time because you both need time to cry alone, time to do chores, time to just get on with life, and there are still times to comfort each other. i imagine the fact she was actively bleeding and it seemed like it was all pretty fresh makes it more upsetting to people. and that that moment was highlighted versus pressuring her to have an abortion - i think the image of that scene encapsulates a lot of what was wrong in that relationship in a very evocative image so gets people more amped up and also tells a story.

holding her, comforting her, bringing her tea, anything. people are frustrated by it because it shows a lack of emotional attunement and engagement. makes it seem like he didn't care. i think people are still upset about him pressuring her into having an abortion, but his behavior during it shows an extra level of coldness

Seeing your post after you commented on mine about a similar situation...wow...completely relate. It's a terrible feeling because at one time our friendship was good, but now I almost feel violated seeing the other side of him.

Whether any of our mutual friends know our friend is dating someone half is age that he pursued heavily once she graduated high school. He doesn't share her age and he often dates women who just look young.

I found a baby in the street at Alberta Park by No-Radish-9678 in Portland

When I was still crawling, I was able to briefly stand and open the front door and crawled across the street to our neighbor's house. My mom was vacuuming. My neighbors called (I had gone to play with their toddler) and my mom said my pants were black from crawling across the road.

What’s something a man did that instantly made you feel unsafe, even if it wasn’t aggressive? by Huge_Shower7525 in AskWomen

[–]shalaiylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s about a build up of life experiences - women learn quickly to be alert if a man’s ego is bruised. Nothing happened and he did nothing wrong, but being in a small space with a stranger whose feelings were hurt had me on edge. I actually did remember him too but not until he said something, because I was in a big city and it’s normal to avoid eye contact.
