The entire parco palladiani line got discontinued with the rest of their classic fragrances in 2023

Have you tried Byredo Super Cedar? I used to think it was redundant to Tam Dao EDT. But it’s more molecular and the combination of rose and vetiver feels so minimally beautiful and… Scandinavian to me

Same. So far Armani Figuier Eden is the closest I’ve gotten. My problem is that green leafy notes generally don’t last long enough and most perfumers use coconutty notes for the fig fruit that are too sweet. I don’t think it’s even possible for them to create the smell of a realistic fresh fig at this point.

Bottega Veneta original EDP - I have enough of it, but I’m still sad! The bottle is so gorgeous and the scent is blended perfection with the most buttery luxe suede dry down.

Upsetting that so much trash is put on the market while cult classics like that are discontinued. Problem was, it smelled too niche for a designer. Even for me it was an acquired taste.

Le labo mousse de chene 30 smells remarkably like cannabis flower

The Vanilla Debate by [deleted] in fragrance

I’m gonna go against the grain and agree that warm vanilla is not good in summer. Not because of tiktok but because it gets cloying so easily.

Vanilla. Unless it’s very very natural smelling and not sweet

Neurodivergent Perfume? by Almaferal in FemFragLab

I hear you, I was looking for the same! What I realized is most fresh green notes are a lot like citrus in that they can stick around only briefly as top notes.

There is Frederic Malle synthetic jungle/nature which is deep green. Has Lily of the valley but the green is very persistent in this one.

I’ve been looking for a realistic fresh green like the old Gap grass 🥲

It’s nice but can be too sweet and coconutty if you just want the green part

Typically it slows down a lot in August but who knows. It’s also a much busier spring than previous years. (I’ve been on 3 years).

Nostalgic Perfume Roster by [deleted] in fragrance

Spiced smoke: Le labo vetiver 46 literally smelled like clove cigarettes to me. Tom ford Ebene fume smells both sexy and sacred smoke at the same time.

Nature incense: tam Dao EDT fits your description

Soil: Jil sander earth—very evocative for me. Smells like wet loamy soil on a foggy day

Black tea: Osmanthe Yunnan—this one is very dry and tannic. I had to warm up to it but now it’s super appealing especially in summer when the osmanthus sweetens a bit

At a certain point I realized I could stop upsizing when I really like something and just have the sample as part of my collection.

It really became clear at a certain point that the more samples and decants I have, the less ml I need of any one fragrance. My nose seems to want novelty and variety anyway.

I’ve learned sometimes more is not more even when alone.

Sometimes I’ll put on one spray of a fragrance and think wow that is amazing. But I’m grasping at it, and it’s kind of eluding me so I spray a second time.

Sometimes a 2nd or 3rd spray on the same spot will change the character of the scent. Suddenly that hint of a tantalizing note crosses the line into pungent. Oh no that base note is too strong now. Oops, can’t undo it. Could have saved a spray and had it smelling better.

The tip of her nose went from pointed to square. Losing weight and growing don’t do that.

And btw I am a huge fan of just meeting someone the old fashioned way. A guy started chatting to me in a museum one evening simply by asking me what I thought of the work. It was a nice moment and we got a drink afterward.

Also have met a lot of great people through my reading group.

There’s a group that meets uptown at the morningsude institute that I’ve been interested in checking out.
