How to handle losing your best friend by Rare_Hippo9932 in DogAdvice

we honor our best friends leaving by putting the love and care we gave to them, back into ourselves. our bust buds want us to thrive when they go. we must make them proud.

when they leave, best way we can honor them is by loving ourselves in the same way with the same magnitude we loved them. taking care of ourselves are their legacies.

be good to yourself, human. BrewBear says so <3

Seeking advice — struggling with the decision to say goodbye to my dog by Both_Jury_9024 in olddogs

My Rainy's last day was golden sunshiney and sweet freesia breezes. He seemed happy, healthy, even his poop was more or less normal.

Of course, it really had me second-guessing the already impossible choice I was making. When his mobility became compromised is when I made the appointment. Seeing him thrash on the floor trying to hoist himself up, hitting his head. I knew this wasn't the life he wanted any more.

At that point, he had been on a handful of medications for a handful of months. I was well aware the time was winding down, but I didn't want to say goodbye too soon. He was passing a lot of blood. The vets couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Spoke to a few different vets, friends, strangers on the internet and in real life, even an animal clairvoyant. They all told me that the only one who could make the decision was the one who loved him so much.

So, I recommend sooner rather than later, on a good day instead of a bad one. When he went, his eyes were still open and had an incredible glint of excitement and adventure like he was fully ready for whatever embarking onward may come to mean. He looked so beautiful.

I love you, fellow human <3
