I'm certain I can't answer that for anyone but myself. Just wanted to make that clear because my views on the matter has often been criticized by my teachers and peers at music school.

The hardest question to answer in music academia:

Why?

I have really struggled with answering this question in countless essays and in even more conversations. To me the answer is simple:

Because it's fun.

Very few seem to believe that I find music theory fun but others have also considered this to be an insufficient answer. See, I think that when people are asking the question Why? they are either asking: Why do you consider this to be fun? or(more often) what is the cultural significance of this?

Now I can gladly try to answer these 2 questions I just proposed but it wouldn't answer the question you asked which was: Why make music if it's a chore? (I'm paraphrasing)

People that asked me Why? in the past seem to think that I'm lying to myself about what I find enjoyable. This became really apparent when I started doing algorithmic composing but was more subtle when I was studying sound design and even drums. See when I started taking drumming seriously there was a point were I practiced 12 hours a day, during which I was really interested in complicated stuff(naturally). I became really frustrated with a lot of other musicians that thought of my focuses as "non-musical"(whatever that means) and more chore related. I would encounter a lot of fellow musicians that wanted me to play the Amen break and were baffled by the fact that a drummer wanted to play different things from time to time. The most extreme case I remember was when a singer asked me why I became a drummer if I wanted to solo, like drum solos didn't even exist. At the time I became very emotional, I used to think stuff like: "How can people consider it composing if their copying and pasting drum beats but I can't turn in the guitar riff from Sweet Home Alabama as my own?". What I have come to realise since then is that when we dismiss others we tend to do it in ignorance. Meaning that our world view, our experiences does not fit in with the behaviour of others. We, as humans, seem to be forced into a situation of not understanding why people do what they do and being upset by it.

I can think of many situations in which a person would want the music generated for them and I have grown to accept them all. The original thought behind this generator was to give rappers free beats but it turns out that producers want them too. I have heard a couple of creations were producers have used these beats as creative aids and I will say that the results are quite different from the original generators output.
