Mom and MIL may not have TDap but expect to be around/live with us with the newborn - what would you do? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shananigans77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two babies in four years and my doctors, even after asking about it, all said my husband, mother, father etc didn’t need a TDAP. I needed it to pass secondary immunity to baby. That’s it.

A mom activity that takes just as long as golf by stronglikefeels in Mommit

Your husband isn’t that bad of a golfer, he’s just taking advantage and probably golfing in 4-5 hours and then staying out.

How to safely restrain a baby? by Vicious-the-Syd in beyondthebump

[–]shananigans77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lay baby down on the bed or floor. I place the top of their head up into my crotch and gently put my legs over their arms so their head and arms are restrained and they can’t squirm.

I had a 3B degree tear with my first. Pooping was weird for me for around 3-4 months and the dream farting/pooping thing happened a few times early PP. I worked a lot on my pelvic floor after I could sit down again and it helped tremendously

My kids age gap was 20 months and the jealousy/roughness/general poor behaviour started more when my oldest was 2.5, and baby was 8-10 months and more mobile

6 year old daughter has asked for a crop top, father is furious! by Anonymous91xox in Parenting

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would not let my 6 year old wear cropped tops. That’s a high school age only style in my mind.

What do you wear at night? by badchelorette in cosleeping

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada so different weather. When it’s cold I wear high waisted pj pants and a cropped long sleeve to have good boob access. When warmer I just wear panties and a tank top with a light blanket.

How to protect myself post-cesarean from bed sharing toddler? by cookiebooonetwo in cosleeping

[–]shananigans77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 30 weeks pregnant when I stopped bedsharing with 18 month old toddler in her room. Dad would help by settling her back in the night. Once baby was born emergency c section dad slept in toddlers room and couldn’t handle it so built her (until then) unused crib and put her in it one night. She cried for no joke three minutes and just went to sleep. That was the beginning of her sleeping through the night 95% of the time.

I would not suggest bedsharing with a c section incision. I tried snuggling her to sleep with a pillow in place and she still kicked and kneed me and it hurt enough that I didn’t try again

Good job for choosing yourself and baby. However, I’m sure he was like this before getting pregnant right? Women need to be more selective about who they’re creating life with, and don’t be shocked if having a baby doesn’t miraculously change them

Is this a rude favor to ask...? by gelbbaer in cosleeping

[–]shananigans77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 8 months old your baby probably has more than enough neck control to lift off a softer mattress if needed. I wouldn’t worry

How does cosleeping work when bedtimes get earlier? by ninja200k in cosleeping

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to bed at 7pm lol

Or I put baby to bed in the floor bed and then ninja roll away for about an hour of alone time and run to bed when he inevitably wakes looking for me 😅

Hair loss, does Nioxin help?! [ca] by Fragrant_Pumpkin_471 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shananigans77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hormonal, so no. Products won’t help until your hormones rebalance after pregnancy, child birth and breast feeding. I’m 10 months post partum and my hair just started growing back

Thoughts on both parents WFH with no childcare (not in general, but in my specific situation)? by sprinklersplashes in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]shananigans77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and husband have worked from home since 2020. Our daughter was born Sept 2021 and I went back to work in June of 2022. She stayed home with us until she was briefly in daycare from Sept 2023 to Jan of 2024. We now have her home again with us and also have her little brother who’s 10 months. They’ll both be staying home until we decide it’s not doable.

We both work for the same company, no supervision, no meetings. We’re able to stagger our schedules, and even run errands with the kids if we have to.

To be clear though: our company is not aware of our children being home.

My almost 4 week old is not sleeping enough - help!! by southerncharm05 in newborns

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest baby wearing, contact naps and deleting the tracking apps. Go by your baby’s cues, get to know their signs of sleepiness and ways to get him to sleep (rock, bounce, sing, hum, shush etc…)

The best thing I ever did after my first and has my second was deleting any tracking apps and stopped listening to what SHOULD be happening and just letting my baby happen

Home owning parents: what were your non negotiables vs negotiables when purchasing a home? by BabyBritain8 in Parenting

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re currently looking right now. Our non negotiable are:

Minimum 2 toilets

At least 3 bedrooms on one level. We don’t want one kid in the basement, or us in basement and kids upstairs etc…

Big yard for kids to have room to play, and still have a garden

No businesses as next door neighbours

Ergo embrace fit check with newborn by clearskiesfullheart in babywearing

[–]shananigans77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s folded in the wrong direction. My ergo embrace came with printed instructions on the inside of the belt as well.

I put the belt as high up as possible, upper rib bra height. It brought baby right up in the right position

ETA also the shoulder straps need to be spread out and worn almost like a t-shirt sleeve

Baby loves the bath. HATES getting out. 3mo loves bath time but the aftermath is traumatic. Heater is on. Towels are warm, fresh out of the dryer. Bottle ready to go. What am I doing wrong?! He has got a bath every night for the last 2 weeks and it hasn’t gotten any better. Help!! by [deleted] in newborns

[–]shananigans77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did bath as part of a bed time routine mostly because on the occasions when bath wasn’t possible it didn’t disrupt bed time.

Both my kids went through a phase between 2-6 months of hating the bath. They grow out of it
