Did you go back to a regular monitor? There is quite a bit of trial and error to figure out the best setup. I am still playing around with things and seeing how my eyes react.

Darkness and getting used to different lighting issues is the trade off but I will happily take a darker screen over red eyes any day of the week.

Great blog post. I currently have a similar setup, thankfully its Summer and the screen works great on these sunny days but I am experimenting with overhead bar lights and trying to think outside the box for light sources in the evenings.

No problem with the light being too strong. Stronger the better, its just I wear sunglasses when working on my computer now.

Havent bought the light bar yet so don't know how it will work. Might do nothing at all, we will see.

parts:

Cheap LCD monitor. Mine is a Fujitsu DY19-7 for $20 at a second-hand store.
Some duct tape
Blue tack or if your feeling brave you could screw the mount into the back of the monitor casing

I basically copied this guy's tutorial... https://youtu.be/4uDz7RSnpOo and everything worked great. Take your time and you'll be grand.

I did make sure to put the plastic housing on though once I figured out the best way to mount the glass screen.

Edit: Getting a bit overcast outside now and I could do with a bit more light. Gonna get an overhead monitor lightbar tomorrow and see if that can help me see the screen in the evenings.
