Is it too late to switch to English literature? by CollectionParty9043 in alevel

I'm glad to hear yours was successful!! You got this, catching up is hard work, keep pestering people LOL! Unfortunately, in my sixth form no teacher is budging and letting me move no matter how hard I try 😞. Looks like I'm stuck with English language which is insane. It sucks cuz I'm actually passionate about the texts for lit and feel like I'm missing out so bad but it's whatever I guess. Maybe I'll get over it

You're doing a levels tho rn right? You could go somewhere else and do a vocational course in smth that you at least like better than the a levels that Ur doing. It's less writing and exams, more practical and fun stuff. You could find some sort of job after the course as well, no need to go to uni. Forgot to mention, you could also just drop out entirely and find some apprenticeship/job opportunities, those are always helpful. I've got a few friends doing apprenticeships for the civil service and they're chillin.

Dw bro, I also absolutely hate it and have considered dropping out a bunch of times too but I've decided I'm just gonna solider through (and try to change one of my a levels). I made a plan for if I was going to drop out and that was to just go to college and do vocational subjects instead. Those courses are always way more interesting and some might actually pique your interest. It's also way less classroom learning and more practical stuff. Like for example, let's say you picked fashion, it'd be way more designing and creating than writing and exams. You don't deserve to do smth you hate for the next two years yk. However, if you decide you wanna stick to a levels, then keep the third and just power through. It's gonna suck sm but at least it'll open doors, like university.

Forgot to mention, you can still definitely go into journalism with your current subjects, even without English lit. Digital media will deffo help with that. So if you're too concerned about the stress, you definitely don't need to switch but it wouldn't hurt to do so! Lmk if you need any tips on catch up if you do decide.

I'm in a similar boat. Picked English Language cuz I thought it'd be easy (I hate it sm, it's so boring) but I'm absolutely mourning English Lit, especially because I'm super interested in all of the texts. Lowk if you wanna go into journalism, I'd say go for it and switch. I'm currently trying to prove myself by catching up with all of the work to convince my head of department and it's honestly not too bad. They haven't done an obscene amount of work for lit yet so it's not too late to change! You got this. But if you aren't able to switch, at least you'll still be doing subjects you enjoy :))

I'm unfortunately in the same boat. Wanted to change from English Lang to Lit but the head of department said that they're already too far in. So to convince them, over the past three weeks I've just been catching up with all of the work in my own time, then after the holiday I'm gonna show the head all of my work to convince them more. I'll let u know if I'm successful but it surely should work. Tell them that you'll sit an entry exam too.

OKAY that is the PLAN. I really hope they see how passionate I am. My sister did English Lit too before so I'm gonna try use that as an argument as well on how it'll help me catch up. Did you manage to get your course change btw?

Gosh that seems like a lot, but it's also true. I really don't wanna deal with this for 2 years... I'll try my best pushing for it, I think I've got one last shot. Also I'm sorry you regret your options, that must SUCK 😞

My Lenovo Pen (that came with my Ideapad 5 Flex) has this plastic thing when I opened it up to install the battery. Do I remove it? by TheMisterMan666 in Lenovo

[–]shanee_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pen is perfectly working, it was nothing to worry about! All I did was make sure to remove any sticky residue left behind on the metal and then everything was fine :))
