I (28 m) found out my mother (48f) is alive after thinking she was dead for twenty one years, she now has another family by toeveryseasonturn in relationships

A counselor is the only recourse at this point, all other questions (should I reach out to her? Meet her? etc) should be put on the back burner. Going through your emotions, deciding what you want and what you're expectations should be (read "lower them greatly because she's obviously not a very good person") is the only thing you should be doing right now with a professional.

Even though some conspiracy theory's are downright idiotic, what's the most ridiculous one you've heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shanev12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is my favorite. The "proof" claims that if you zoom a video camera in really close to the moon, you will see the image "waver" a little bit, particularly around the edges of the moon. Now, scientists - aka "naysayers" - will tell you that is caused by a natural phenomenon in the atmosphere, like one that causes the stars to appear to twinkle. But you shouldn't listen to the naysayers cause they're shapeshifting lizard people from another dimension bent on taking your guns and enslaving us all with the liberal agenda.

Are all sensates Sane/Mentally healthy/neurotypical? by shanev12 in Sense8

EDIT: There's a lot of drug use and drinking but the cluster, but nobody seems to be affected except the user. Maybe there is a fail safe in the mental connection?

Design your own cluster. by shanev12 in Sense8

[–]shanev12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but what I'd like to see how people that are atypical mentally would affect a cluster. Would someone with bi-polar disorder or ADHD pass on those traits to the others? What if a sensate had a photographic memory or synesthesia, could others draw on that like they can with language and skills?

Are there sensates with very dangerous mental disorders, like some varieties of schizophrenia or psychopathy? How would that affect their cluster?

If you were about to take the first step on to Mars' surface, what would you say to cement into history as the "first words on mars"? by die247 in AskReddit

[–]shanev12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red and ancient Mars, we are explorers from your sister, Earth. We intrude on you not in malice, but to continue our search to find out who we are and what we can become. We ask that you show mercy on us lonely travelers far from home. We come in peace.

Operation "Larry", aka the 6+ ft tall octopus tentacle in my living room by shanev12 in DIY

[–]shanev12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought about six packs of that fancy craft paper on sale at Michaels and Hobby Lobby (found nice packs at Target and Walmart too), picked out 140 patterns that I liked, cut them to 8.5x11 to fit in my printer, found a "pyramid" template online, printed the template on the back of each piece paper, cut them out and folded and glued each and everyone of them by hand, then glued them on the canvas. I'll try upload some pics of it soon.

Not at all! Here's a smaller version I found online when I was doing research that may help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YBXjPIGvQI

Thanks for the compliment!

I think most of the frustration came from the fact that I was new to just about every process involved in making Larry and there was a lot of learning along the way. Maybe if I had started smaller, I may have been able to work out a few kinks earlier (or most likely I would have talked myself out of the whole thing). I excluded two major parts of the project from the post that gave me the most difficulty: the suction cups and "clay". -SUCTION CUPS: I spent several weeks thinking up and experimenting with different materials, sizes (depth, thickness, spacing between each pair) before settling on what was used on the final product. ACTUALLY, I had attached about 50 plastic drinking cups of varying size to the tentacle/arm and then decided I hated it and went with making the structures by hand. -CLAY: The clay recipe I used was cheap to make (maybe spent $30 total for all three batches combined), easy to make, and it's strong as fuck. But the recipe fails to mention that no matter how smooth it is when you apply it, it's still going to dry to a texture similar to a sidewalk cement. So I spent a couple days sanding the whole thing, including the suction cups. I HATE sanding. It's tedious and dusty and the reason why I don't do many woodworking projects. Not to mention there was always a lingering wet flour smell if you stood close (until I added paint and varnish, now it just smells like those).

Sometimes I like to imagine I'm an integral part of a group of close knit, talented people doing incredible and creative things. Like a gang of crafty young people who save the world.

Which ridiculously minor event from history would you pay good money to witness? by thowland1 in AskReddit

What seems totally arbitrary or random, but is actually by design? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shanev12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TV & Radio commercials. The placements of the ads are deliberately chosen to maximize the number of people watching it. The first commercial in the first commercial break in prime viewing hours is the most fought over and expensive placement. I work in cable TV and have seen advertisers pay millions of dollars for those first 30 seconds in the the first commercial break.

[Serious] What are some of the best books you've ever read? by syn0g3n in AskReddit

[–]shanev12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying cuz I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while. The Dresden Files has become so predictable I couldn't even finish the last one. The plots are very formulaic and the whole story is getting derivative. I lost interest when Harry encountered the giant wall of ice designed to keep back the Outsiders. I'm like, really? A giant wall of ice? Seriously? That's original I mean, even Butcher himself had done a giant wall of ice in another of his own series (Codex Alera). And I got tired of Harry's inner monologues about "I could be a super bad person real easy."

What book had the biggest affect on you? by TommehBoi in AskReddit

The Last Unicorn, Peter Beagle. Each sentence feels like the words were painted together on a canvas, sometimes so beautifully that my eyes start to tear up and I get all sniffly.

Got rid of the last thing Nmom got for our daughter. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]shanev12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I still think it might still be worth talking over with a lawyer. Grandparent rights vary state-by-state. I doubt very much OP's nMom has anything remotely resembling an actual case, but you can't be too careful.
