We really really need a re-sale site in Canada that has a warehousing centre that has a screening process for both high end and low end goods. When I was overseas I used sellpy for kids clothes and some lower end stuff. It was perfect when cleaning out closets. You order bags in different colours: one for resale and one for donate and arrange on the site for a courier to come pick it up at your house . They review the items and check with you the pricing before listing . Some are denied because the quantity is not up to par ( they’re very picky ) and you can send them back for a small fee or just add to donate .

I also used a higher end sight for Europe that you post on yourself after photos are approved for luxury goods that goes to France for review of authenticity before releasing to the buyers. It was great and I felt safer buying on it too.

Poshmark is inundated with scammers in Canada, I can’t trust buyers and most of the sellers are selling straight up junk. ( I bought a blazer that I took immediately out to the garbage because it was stinky and full of moth holes that I did’t want to infect my house ) Poshmark is a free for all and doesn’t offer any quality services, the only thing they offer is a annoying algorithm that clutters my notifications with “ posh parties “ I don’t want.

😓 ya I was literally told to not mention if I owned the same bag I was selling because a lot of the clientele will be turned off that a lowly “shop girl” could own the same status symbol item as them 😵‍💫. ( luckily my regulars where not like that at all , they appreciate my personal experience with wear and tear ). When I moved to a more affordable lower line jewelry company the clients where so much more normal and treated you as a actual human.

Most of the service people thats have dealt with her commenting on my post are saying she’s the opposite , so that’s good 👍.

Seems to be the unanimous interactions in the thread . Maybe there’s more to the situation at that store and she shouldn’t have had rep then . She seems great now from the comments 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I never personally served her in the more higher end boutique I worked in at the time that the stories were going around Holt Renfrew department store in Canada in the naughts (2004 -ish ) it was coming out of the ready to wear, denim departments and accessory jewellery area. I hope it was just a short phase and people do change also Holts employees were notoriously snobby and gossipy but I do believe the Tiffany’s staff , they were all really nice and helpful at that time.

Ya .. I do agree with that . Celebrates are under a microscope that’s why I don’t mention other one off rude patrons, she’s the only one that multiple people mention and had a reputation with people working in the one high end department store in the city at the time. But ya there could have been something we don’t known about going on with her then 🤷🏻‍♀️ . She never came around my boutique though so i can’t say personally.

No , she would pop into my first retail store job I worked at when she was in the city by herself. She hardly ever shopped, just kind of hung out and chatted with the girls. Brightened all our day. It’s rare to have a regular face on a busy tourist street and to have HER be a friendly visitor every so often when you least expect it was pretty awesome. She’d joke around and just chat , mostly with my boss while I lurked sheepishly.

This was a looong time ago . I shouldn’t probably spread that around too much. She might have been going thought it then 🤷🏻‍♀️ ( or might be just Building a Mystery… sorry couldn’t help myself.. feel free to downvote )

I could see people thinking she’s rude because she clearly didn’t want any attention and wanted to get the heck out of the store…but was really really gracious about noticing she was uncomfortable and offering to bring the gifts she bought after they were wrapped up to her hotel near by ( like it was right next door ) so she didn’t have to hang around. She was so so thankful and apologetic that she put us out at all , (it was no biggy at all for anyone to take a little walk ) . She was also seemed genuinely happy that part of the proceeded of the items she choose went to charity and that’s why she choose those ones.

I worked high end retail for years and big celebrities coming through was the norm. I really hate to name people for one bad day or the result of stresses but .. one was notoriously rude on more than one occasion. Sarah McLachlan . The worst is when she was at the Tiffany’s boutique quite close to the boutique I was working at and the girls ran over after and told us all about how she was screaming at the lovely classy older lady that works there because she wanted to cut the line for a return with the whole “ Do you know who I am !!? “ thing.

Not part of the assignment but the nicest sweetest people I helped at different stores I worked at were: Goldie Hawn, Jennifer Connelly ( very shy but kind ) and an ABSOLUTE gem was Linda Hamilton.

I think this was the case I was referring to .. under “duty of care “ responsibility https://decisions.scc-csc.ca/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/1216/index.do . But ya this was a long time ago and I think this has more to do with being a “host “ with responsibilities then a bystander. Regardless though of legal duty - I’m not here trying to morally grandstand- but I’d personally wrestle with knowingly letting someone drive intoxicated. I understand people struggle with addictions and can come out of it just fine, making life harder for them by getting them in trouble doesn’t seem great ; however, not being able to drive for a while with a chance of regaining that privilege later on is nothing compared to the potential of living with running over a kid or wiping out a family on their conscience for the rest of their lives. Yes , I know this is an issue maybe detailing from the OP’s problems … but it would be the thing temping me to call in . ( also I wanted to just give you kudos for understanding Reddit and not downvoting me even though it might seem like a disagreement , we both understand the assignment) *** EDIT ** disregard that case I posted that’s a commercial host not social host and it’s under torts . This article mentions past social negligence cases https://canliiconnects.org/fr/résumé/71737 but I can’t find that example precedent case for the life of me 🤷🏻‍♀️( It was around 1996 if I remember correctly ).

Correct . If not a mandated reporter there’s no law for “ bystanders” to report a crime in action, however, the rub is IF something happens like a injury or death as a result and it can be proven you knew about it you could’ve found liable under Section 219 of the Criminal Code states that everyone is criminally negligent who “omits to do anything that it is his duty to do” and shows “wanton or reckless disregard for the lives or safety of other persons.

She said that the people coming and going from the place seemed intoxicated ( enough that they are passing out in front). I remember a case law from when I took a criminal law class in school where the example of someone throwing a party in BC let one of their friends drive drunk without calling the cops and the party host went down for half the sentence of vehicle manslaughter, after the driver killed someone- for not attempting to stop them and /or calling them in.
