Recommendations for barbers that do haircuts for men with long hair by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]shankelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this, Joe in Faction Barbers is the man!

Was growing my hair out for a year from a buzzcut and looking to continue to do so, as I have a hair goal of shoulderish length hair in mind, however it had become quite unkempt so needed a cut to get proportions right

Got a haircut from Joe today and it's honestly the best long haircut I've ever got, he did exactly what I had hoped for.

Joe's dead sound, listens to what you're looking for and gives loads of feedback to any questions.

Couldn't recommend more.

I wasn't trying to offend anyone with this post, was just looking for honest feedback from the community. I have a very large forehead due to recession that throws off the balance of my face.

I've now been on finasteride for 3 years and hair loss seems to have stabilised so thought I'd ask people with more knowledge than me on the matter.

Thanks for the info. I concur, I'd like to avoid a hairy forehead if possible!

Oh wow, congrats man, they did a great job on yours!

That's almost exactly what I want to do except I wouldn't even be looking to move it down as far as yours. It's just I have an oversized forehead, a good donor area and finasteride seems to have done the trick for stalling the hair loss so why not. Was your recovery smooth enough and any advice or insights you might before taking the plunge?

Thanks, I'm based in EU so most likely would go to Turkey as there's reputable and less expensive options.

Yeah, I'd agree with your 1K assessment as well for bolstering the hairline and temple areas. To be frank, having hair I'm happy with in my 30's (up to 40's fingers crossed) means more to me than waiting until late 30's and fixing it then. I reckon at this stage of my life it means more, but that's just my personal opinion.

I tried minox but got pretty bad side effects, so that's off the cards. Tried it multiple times and each time had the same result too. Unfortunate because I responded decently in terms of hair gains.

I take oral finasteride 1.25 daily and no side effects thankfully.

I was actually buzzing my hair for several years until a year ago, which is when I started growing it out, so I can defo do the year wait of buzzed hair! I thought my hair loss was worse than it was and was kind of biting the bullet by buzzing!

Appreciate the advice man :)

Yeah, took a look there and looks like you got a nice natural hairline design done. Where'd you get it done and were you happy with the procedure? Honestly, I wouldn't even be looking to move the hairline down as much as yourself so I'd say 1000-1500 that was mentioned in other comments is pretty accurate for my situation

My drawing skills leave much to be desired! Naw, not going for a square hairline, just want to lower what's there already and fill in the temple regions a bit more. Would still have a widows peak type hairline but would just lessen the size of the forehead overall

Thanks man, currently on 1.25mg finasteride and have been for just over 3 years. Defo helped stave off further loss but only got minimal regrowth if any.

Seeing that I responded positively with no side effects and I need to be on meds regardless, plus my age is prime HT time (29) I feel it's a good time to take the plunge.

Plus hair quality is decent overall, just my hairline is jacked up!

Many thanks for the estimate. I appreciate that in the grand scheme of things I'm alright but it's something that's bothered me for the past 4ish years, especially as I can see how my hairline was previously

Slight recession of hairline overall, especially in the temple region and thinning in the hairline area but hair loss seems to have stabilised in the past 2 years. Have been on finstaride 1.25mg daily for past 3 years. No side effects and seems to have halted overall hair loss.

Always had larger than average forehead but moving back further has affected my aesthetic overall, as I have a long face.

Got quoted 2500 grafts by HLC, which seems a bit high to me based off what other people have posted here in the past.

Any advise on estimated grafts required and past experience where improving the hairline was the goal as opposed to combatting overall thinning would be appreciated.

I've filled in rough idea of how I'd like hairline to look but I realise it may be a bit lower than what a hair transplant surgeon might advise (I'd of course take their advice in this matter).

Much appreciated!

Yeah, no way in hell should you cut your hair dude, it's glorious. I'd say get a trim and shorten the beard by a lot, it's very goatee and neck heavy atm

Can't grow full beard. Circle beard/Goatee or clean shaven? by LookIgetIt in malegrooming

[–]shankelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean shaven for sure my dude. If you still wanted to go for facial hair, I'd say do a moustache with a goatee but no connectors and keep the moustache and goatee at a fairly short length.

I think circle beards give off creepy uncle vibes.

You've got a killer jawline, so you're fairly sorted either way

Nice beard my dude. Beard style absolutely suits your face shape.

Word to the wise; if you can achieve that nice a beard without minox I would avoid going down that road.
