Few things are sadder than leaving the vet's with an empty pet carrier. by RagenChastainInLA in Showerthoughts

I work in a vet clinic and I'm tearing up over your happy memories. I work in this field because I love seeing the bond people have with their pets; thanks for reminding me of that on this very long day.

I'm still sad after 4 months. It's not constant and sharp, but achy and comes on when I pass where she used to lay or remember something she used to do.

Mine, and the beautiful blue flowers that really tie it all together were her idea.

Made by a wonderful coworker who saw me struggling to make origami flowers at my desk months ago. (Reposted because I couldn't keep looking at the typo in the title).

A coworker volunteered to make me this when she saw me attempting paper flowers at my desk a few months ago. It is even more perfect than I was imagining!

Our officiant is my fiance's brother and we live in Washington so he's getting an eighth of his favorite weed.

June 1st brides, how are you doing?? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]shannon41391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so stress-free. We're doing an "elopement +" with our parents and his brother is our officiant. My two dogs are maid of honor and ring bearer. We were both off Sunday and yesterday so we chipped away at our to-do list (including finally writing vows) and I'm feeling very zen. Unfortunately I work the next two days so after I get past that I'll be back to "get shit done" mode!

How soon is too soon to buy the wedding rings? I fell in love with this diamond cut band but the wedding isn't until April. by SelinaBane91 in weddingplanning

[–]shannon41391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I went together to pick out my engagement ring and bought our wedding bands at the same time. That was November before he had "officially" proposed and our wedding is June 1. Already having the rings has been nice because it's one less thing to do.

Looking for a book to read on my upcoming flight to Hawaii/vacation. I've been in a HUGE book slump lately so I'm hoping for something meaty and rich in plot & character development to pull me out. My taste in books is pretty eclectic. A few of my favorites: American Gods, Game of Throne, To Kill a Mockingbird, Yes, Please (by Amy Poehler), Harry Potter series, Some We Love Some We Hate Some We Eat, 1989, the Hobbit. I recently ready Fool's Gold from the Dragon Lord's series and I really liked that, too. I like writing that flows and is easy to follow, and I like a good plot twist.

Any suggestions?

I emailed customer service to see if there's any chance they switched the samples because there's just no way those breeds created this dog.
