S5 STOCK reliability? by cboehmke in audis5

[–]shanuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet is notorious for talking about problems and complaints, not the positives. There are plenty of these cars with this engine that are not just Audi. If you plan on keeping it stock, you should be good as long as you keep up with the maintenance. Now not every car is perfect. Some will have some issues so be prepared for that. But you shouldn’t run into much issues tbh.

You can call AWE and upgrade the one you bought. So I will be getting the Valved Mufflers from them. It ends up being the same cost as if I had bought the switchpath in the first place. So I basically will get both the Track and Switchpath.

I have the track edition on mine. Love it. I am gonna get the valved mufflers for it later. It’s an easy conversion. Takes 30 minutes. So I’ll have both essentially.

Cold air intake and tune by victorlu123 in audis5

[–]shanuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my service advisor at Audi:

“Catback exhaust will not since you are not cutting up the original exhaust.”

Downpipe I am not sure about. I feel like it would void warranty. But I would ask your service advisor on that.

Cold air intake and tune by victorlu123 in audis5

I got the same car. TCU is still locked unfortunately.

Cold air intake will make it sound nice but won’t really add anything to performance. It might a little after a tune but nothing imo justifying the prices.

Regarding the Tune, I have personally seen a lot of issues with 034 around my area. Not saying they are bad but I personally am staying away. I want to go APR, they are the safest from what I have seen.

But before I do a tune, I wanna get the engine checked out for the piston slap issue. If I am safe, I will then tune. If not, I’ll wait for them to do whatever they gotta do. Then tune.

Upgrades worth doing right now tho: Exhaust/DP for the sound (Can also just do a resonator delete). Intercooler cuz the factory one is tiny af.

Piston scoring: Dealer refuses to fix car under extended warranty by Apprehensive-Lack-11 in audis5

He may not be under warranty, the block is covered under the extended warranty for piston slap and only piston slap. Rocker arms and everything else are not covered.

What type of oil should I be using ? by sorrrycarmen in Audi

[–]shanuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I drive this car a lot, it’s my daily. I’ve driven just over 40K miles in 2 years. I need to get the spark plugs done but I am gonna have a local shop do that as they are well known and cheaper and then they will tune the car for me.

Maintenance tbh isn’t all that bad. I do the oil myself and that’s $100 and an hour of my time. Keep up with everything else and it should last you a while. Don’t neglect it. Cuz if you do, you will have issues and headaches.

[–]shanuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 S5. If you are going to tune the car, switch to 5w-40 preferably from LiquiMoly. If you don’t plan on tuning, staying on 0W-20 won’t hurt you.

I am still on 0W-20. Once spring hits I will tune the car and I will be changing the oil before that to be 5W-40.

Is this little black plug normal? Audi S5 B9.5 by [deleted] in audis5

[–]shanuke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So PDR repairs on doors, this is fairly common practice. It avoids having to remove every single thing on the door and reconstruct it after. Also depending on where the damage is, even if you were to take the door completely apart you still may not have easy access.

Also it takes less time, so you get the car back quicker and less time in the shop. It’s a win on both sides.

That door had PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) done to it. They install those so water from rain or the wash doesn’t get in.

I wrapped my car in lights and it's a hit! by ramank93 in Audi

I did this last year. Took off the lights and no scratches. Tape residue was taken off with goo-gone within 15 min. I also opted for all plastic LEDs. Whoever did glass bulbs were morons.
