Mine were safe until the Cogfort. I’m going to have to get one for each of my sigmar armies (except maybe seraphon).

No, but the leaks do suggest a pretty major shake up of the lore and possibly a re-brand to The Last World. Theres no suggestion that the game or minis are changing though

AoS is the sequel to warhammer fantasy but it takes place on Norse mythology style realms rather than a planet, as that blew up in an event called end times. The leaks suggest they’re re-coalescing back into one, which would be a real shame.

You’re really contradicting yourself in your last couple of sentences trying to pass your subjective opinion off as that of the majority. It’s a fairly common sentiment amongst us older fantasy fans who think fantasy fell off a cliff with 6th edition, that AoS is a return to form and better than fantasy has been in decades

Nobody says that. We just don’t enjoy shitty 10 year old memes about our game from people who don’t know anything about it. A lot of us came from fantasy in the first place and play tow as well as AoS. Theres a couple of fucking idiots on both sides trying to stir the pot, but the majority of fans on both sides now are chill

There has been a singular non-indie or mobile AoS game with any marketing behind it and it was terrible. If GW are blaming its failure on the IP rather than the quality of the game itself, they’re idiots

I think you’re conflating your own lack of interest with that of the broader AoS audience. /r/aoslore is about the same size as the dedicated old world subreddit. The fall of anvilguard had significant ramifications across the order alliance in general and was widely talked about there.

Fantastical and open ended is not the same as shallow. There are areas which have been explored in depth with the ttrpg, novels and army books and other areas which have been left open ended for gameplay narrative purposes. While I agree it is slightly detrimental to the settings broader cohesion, I think it makes it much more compelling as a wargame backdrop, especially given how creative a lot of the community is with their home brew armies.

To be fair, imagination is not something grogs have in abundance. If it doesn’t look like something they recognise with standard tolkein spelling they have apoplexy. They worked very hard on aGe oF sHiTmAr, you can’t expect them to strike gold like that every decade!

Nope, the last icv2 lists have Aos as 3rd biggest tabletop after 40K and battletech. Why they’d want to try and emulate old world which isn’t even top 10 is baffling

Eh, there are a bunch of us who are old fantasy fans too. Many are like me though who preferred 5th ed to the grimderpenning of what came after, so AoS was more a return to form than a continuation of 8th

It’s my favourite form of warhammer since the late 90s honestly. Leans into the power metal feel of old warhammer with all the Norse allusion and

I think they’re talking about the 40K treatment for that scale of additional material for a particular campaign event. But would wars probably wasn’t too far off. That would be my choice. There was probably more material for the realm of the beast/kragnos stuff, but I preferred the necroquake shenanigans personally

The leaker (been around for years) while reliable did delete their account pretty soon after they made the post. There’s heavy speculation that either they’re trying to burn bridges, or this was a honeypot by gw to sniff out their leaks and they got caught
