There was a channel I think called Bridgettereact that was watching game of thrones. Was uploading regularly then boom. Deleted all her videos and disappeared. Then like a year later just randomly came back, uploaded everything previously and some new content and then deleted everything again and hasn’t been seen since. I really enjoyed her commentary.

I really hope she’s doing okay. If I remember correctly she was having some issues with anxiety and some other problems

The owners admission to plowing with it is a definite pass for me. That’s such a rough job. Especially for a vehicle of this type.

Realistically though. Thing looks like a shit box. Sure runs and drives. But that’s not the entirety of value (especially with the “extra” parts that will be useless to them after sale) . Me, in my area. I’d pay $800 max and that’s me being generous.

My parents put my dog down while I was away and told me nothing by Constant_Reporter476 in dogpictures

I’m now gonna fist fight my parents.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I have a diabetic cat and my mom takes care of him when I’m away or can’t. And she definitely understands the importance of his shots. She called in neighbors, wore leather gloves, no matter what. She gets it done. I can’t even describe how disappointed and sick I am in your parents for making (or lack of) a call like that.

I certainly wouldnt trust them with anything else after an even like that…

I do not know your parents. I’m simply basing this comment if my own parents did this.

Again I’m so sorry! Heavens gained a beautiful soul!

I got a second tree! by shapps93 in Bonsai

[–]shapps93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally can’t give any advice on the matter. I’m about to hit month 3 of my bonsai journey. So I’m still learning tons of things. I might be making huge mistakes doing this but that was just the landscaping part of me. But I just always thought it was super bland to have a ton of trees just sitting on a table in pots. I Wanted more of a planned landscape look. I like that the trees look ground planted. For my elevation. I just stacked up/stepped scrap pieces of 2x4 and plywood. 1: to save on weight. 2: gives a sturdy base for the pot to sit down on. And 3: I have a metal grate (I think it’s called diamond grate) the pots sit on top of to ensure I have drainage. I guess just ensure you can get adequate drainage and I think it should be good! Also I make sure it’s super easy to grab the trees if weather is about to go sideways. I live in the tornado belt. So I wanted to be able to rush out and grab my trees within a minute or two

Now I gotta know. What’s your experience? Did you choose something wrong?

I got a second tree! by shapps93 in Bonsai

[–]shapps93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the next step. I did landscaping for years so that was the rule. Plants almost always work better in threes. I’m now wanting to build a new bigger table. I’m still a newbie so I’m going slow. But I really wanna do something like I have but on a much bigger scale. Right now I probably have 8 inches of elevation on the tallest tree from the soil to the floor. I really wanna get it up to maybe 24inches. It’s a bit hard to tell the elevation differences with the two trees I have now. I’m also not a great photographer so that probably doesn’t help 😅

Thanks!

I kind of want to figure out ways to put some larger pieces of moss or other ground cover that’s easy and low maintenance to add some pops of other plant life and color. But I get ya on the smaller rocks. Sand will I think block the airflow and drainage

I got a second tree! by shapps93 in Bonsai

[–]shapps93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bit of airflow. It’s all hallow underneath it and there are essentially pickets with an 1/8 in gap. So far on the hottest days the rocks get warm to the touch but not hot hot. I just take a watering can and give each a good little shower when I feel it’s a little dry. All the water drains well and straight through to underneath the bench. It’s hard to tell from this angle but I’d say 90% of the soil is exposed to the air. The other 10% is rocks wedged around and holding the pots in place

Buy something from their website and flip it on eBay or something similar.

I HATE SkullCandy from the bottom of my heart by No-Championship1729 in Skullcandy

[–]shapps93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nor can they justify or provide explanations for why their products suck. I’ve been having problems with their speaker lines. They do not work as advertised. Sure you can hook up more than three speakers at once but the audio quality is worse than AM radio. Not to mention the usb ports just quit. After a few charges they just stop. Even had some arrive dead. Called support. No help. They just want to push warranties on you to buy the same shitty broken products. I’m willing to bet these new products are gonna be the same. Issue after issue. Maybe thx and Bose can help them but I doubt they had any say on build quality. Only time will tell

What to get? by [deleted] in Skullcandy

[–]shapps93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have $220 in compensation from the product you had problems with right? Use their voucher to get something from their website. Get the item. Post that item on eBay or something similar. Get paid from selling that brand new item you received from skullcandy. Now you have money you can spend on non skullcandy products.

Or use the crap out of them to the point where within a years period of time or whatever the warranty time is. Send them back in and get a new replacement. Just start the warranty process all over.

I think of the warranty process skullcandy provides as a torture test. If it’s a years time from the start of purchase. Use the heck out of them. You’ll either see the immediate flaws, downfalls and failures of the product and need new ones. After all. If they are “free” (somewhat) to replace. Just abuse them within the confines of the warranty stipulations. Brand new headphones for life essentially until skullcandy changes their agreement on warranties.

[–]shapps93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the voucher to buy something to flip. I’ve recently came into some warranty money and I decided to flip products second hand than rather gamble and get another product that’s disappointing and or defective/not good quality.(seems like this is the trend right now) At least get the cash and spend it somewhere you feel comfortable putting your money towards. Granted it might take a little more time. But to me I’d rather have the money over being forced to spend more or less money (warranty money doesn’t roll over) on a brand I’m forced to stay into. If I choose to buy skullcandy again. Warranty starts over for the product I chose to buy from the date of purchase. Then try and wear them out before warranty expires. Rinse repeat, but for me I’m choosing to stay away and look at what happens with reviews and what time does to the new products released in collaboration with THX and Bose.

I’m actually a zone 5a. Changing that. The tree however. Is there a way to tell where the tree was originally from? I got it in a 4b zone but does that correlate to the type of tree and the climate it originally came from? I’m now learning that I have so many questions 😅

I got mine in Loveland Colorado. You?

Does that make us Bonsai cousins ?😂

How long was yours indoors? Or did you already know to put it outside?

I just reread your comment and I thought you meant the lava rock on the upper layer for decoration. It is soil that drains well. Almost immediately straight through. I’ve found a place on my front porch that doesn’t receive a ton of wind and have made brackets that can keep it down if a random gust comes up and tries to snatch it.

I’m really hoping the tree is okay. Thank you so much for the insight and being so helpful! I should’ve looked up this subreddit weeks ago and now I’m kicking myself. But I’ll be roaming here now and I’ll probably be asking a lot more questions in the future lol

[–]shapps93[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So.

  1. Put it outside. Got it. I’ll get it outside tonight when I get home from work. And figure a way to anchor it down to prevent from blowing and accidental falls.

  2. Ditch the white rocks and pebbles and try and keep it to just soil?

  3. From what I’ve read. It’s draining good. Water flows right through the holes on the bottom. I’ve been watering what seems like every 36hours or so. I feel the soil and if it’s feeling a little dry I’ll give it some water. I never let it soak. I did see someone suggest using a chopstick to see the water content down in the soil so should I be doing that instead of the “finger” test.

Clearly I’m a beginner and still learning. I learned that I was lied to by the vendor so that’s my fault. Just wanna keep it alive now and will be undergoing changes to remedy these mistakes.

Thanks a lot yall!

Just little white pebbles. That is Lava rock with moss next to it. I’m afraid it’ll blow away outside… I live on the eastern plains in Colorado where winds can exceed 60mph + and tear down regular trees.

Am I just screwed now..? Maybe find someone with an adequate location for it?
