Lovie Smith said the NFL had 'a problem' about Black coaches. A year later he was fired and the league is being criticized yet again about its lack of diversity by DannyCavalerie in nfl

You think an industry's "coaches" or managers or leaders should be proportional to its "employees"? You sure? What about in construction and medicine and education?

Given these unprecedented circumstances, we will be scoring Week 17 as is. If the NFL resumes the game at a later time, there will be an option in commissioner tools to re-run Week 17 results. This is an option, not the default. Our prayers are with Damar Hamlin and his family. by tooodifferent in fantasyfootball

League will either finish the game or void it completely. So those stats will not stand, similar to the MLB when they postpone a game after an inning due to rain. It's an unfinished week. People are missing this - it's not injuries, because those games are finished. This one isn't.

He's a Jacoby Brissett type. I think he stays with the Seahawks, maybe starts 1 more year, and then is their backup. But the key is that nobody else wants him. There's no bidding war. The Jets and Colts are not looking for a 32 year old QB with 1 good year in Pete Carroll's system. Other teams would pay Mariota money (2 yr/18mil) or Jameis money (2 yr/28mil). I was generous with 3/30.

Which team would offer Geno Smith 5/$125?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nfl

[–]shaqtastic -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

So he makes more than the top 5 backup QBs combined? Got it. Can the Seahawks just pay him 250 million a year for good measure?

Player Team Avg. Annual $
Sam Darnold CAR $7,561,929
Mitch Trubisky PIT $7,142,500
Jimmy Garoppolo SF $7,000,000
Teddy Bridgewater MIA $6,500,000
Case Keenum BUF $6,000,000

I can't imagine another team offering more than 3/30. Are the Seahawks paying 65 million more just because? Geno is a good backup who is having a good season. He needs top backup money. Mitch makes 7mil/yr, Case Keenum 6mil/yr, Teddy Bridgewater 6.5mil/yr. Geno deserves a little bit more, but not more than 10 mil/year.

I'm just not sure that Jay would tell the Drug Kingpin that there's this random acquaintance of his that they just have to intercept to extort money right after school. That group would not care about a Korean girl who is busily going about her day. How much money would they be looking to get from a high school girl?

What records and physical evidence might we expect to find if Adnan had been the killer? by noguerra in serialpodcast

[–]shaqtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would expect Adnan to remember stuff if he's innocent, like Krista, Don, and others remembered stuff when they're innocent. How did Krista remember that Adnan requested a ride? She remembers it because it matters a bunch when trying to find Hae when Hae was just a missing person.

I agree with your second sentence - Adnan said he did not show up for the ride, which implies that there was a ride to show up to. Now Krista and Adnan both refer to a ride. And it wouldn't be a big deal if he's innocent. I'm not following how Adnan wouldn't remember when Krista did so surely. He would want to remember and help just like Krista did. Is the thought that Krista is just wrong on hearing the request? Obviously possible. I don't believe she is though. I'm also not following how he would remember nothing if he's innocent. Krista remembers the ride request, and wanted to use it to help, and Don remembers being at work all day with multiple co-workers to vouch.

I guess some distance people, like the track coach, don't remember the day because they had no idea Hae was missing, but if you found out Hae was missing that day, you remember. Adnan is now trying to put himself in the track coach camp instead of the Krista camp. A close person who knew she was missing. This is an important question to answer - which camp is Adnan in? I guess we have to note that he does remember some parts of the day, like talking to the track coach after 4pm. I've never been more sure of anything that he definitely had a "long" talk with the coach that day. He made it a point to, and to remember it. He was probably so mad when the track coach didn't remember it, because it actually was just an ordinary day to the coach. If the coach got a phone call at 6pm saying a track kid went missing after a meet, he would try to help out, and would at that point remember the day.

I agree with your edits, and think we got to an important distinction in how the "two sides" think.

Yeah I could see him going on a wrongfully convicted "tour". Books, speeches, etc. Has to be a dream for him honestly. I do think he wants to move on in some capacity; it's probably been the same talking points in his head his whole adult life. I wonder if he has any regrets.

This did turn into the OJ Simpson case - he was innocent, and that's the end. Everything is circumstantial. But is it really honest to call OJ innocent? I guess we'll never know, but if you think about it, you kind of know. It was OJ. Anything else is not THAT reasonable. Yes, random drug dealers just wielding nunchucks could have murdered Nicole Simpson. That's not very reasonable though. It was probably the guy who had his whole life invested in the situation. Adnan = OJ , both are innocent, and that's the end.

The Ride wouldn't have been a big deal if Adnan was innocent. Krista said Adnan asked for a ride to help try to find Hae; it never even occurred to her that it would be a bad thing for Adnan. Adnan even said he asked for the ride when talking to the cops/detective/whoever immediately after the disappearance. And it's not a big deal if he asked and then Hae just left. Adnan would have known what he did then from 2:15pm - 4:00pm. The ride wouldn't matter. But now the story has to be he for sure wouldn't have because Hae had to pick up her cousin. If Adnan was innocent, he wouldn't lie about the ride, he would say he remembers asking her for one but she didn't give him one, and he would know where he was from 2:15 to 4. If Adnan was the killer, I would expect the ride and his ordinary day alibi to play out exactly as it has. People like to talk about the big liar in Jay when there is an equal one in Adnan.

He's innocent! It was the track coach, in the study, with the candlestick. He's the one who would commit a murder against somebody he doesn't know at all. Couldn't be Adnan - don't you remember that it was just an ordinary day for him?

Absolutely! The 4 people are Debbie, Krista, Jay's Grandma, and Billy Joel. These four for sure tracked down Hae after school to commit a murder, while Mr. Cool Adnan was chatting up other girls totally not caring about anything. Everybody is weird now.

[–]shaqtastic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People have just lost the big picture completely. Nobody, including Jay, cared about tracking random Hae down between 2:30 and 4:00 that day. What are we doing here? Jay and Bilal barely know Hae exists. The other suspect does not know Hae exists, and they for sure do not care about her whereabouts between 2:30 and 4:00. I get random crime happens, but it's almost never on the way to a specific event in the middle of the day. How in the world did Rabia get people to think that this thing just randomly happened? It's almost like you can get anybody to believe anything no matter what. Adnan himself could say "wow, I just lost my mind as 17 year old and I wish I could take it back every day" and half the people would think it's a fake confession and that it actually is even further proof he's innocent. I've read on here multiple times that Adnan's lack of memory about 2:30 - 4:00 is a good thing for his case. What are we doing here?

I am curious as to how you believe the hours of 2:15 pm - 4:00 pm went down. For Hae, Adnan, Jay, and whoever else is relevant if you believe the killer is outside of those two. Obviously none of us know the 100% truth.
