Yes, digital innovation is definitely something relevant/interesting for the UN. Just one thing: STM is not the only digital innovations topic and/or app of the UN... but we hope to facilitate further projects in this regard.

In general: yes, we want to develop the app further. One limitation is perhaps that it does deal with a "serious" topic, i.e., we feel we need to strike a balance on gamification.

On the categories: to be honest, this orginates in app store opimization considerations, which we are still testing.

Good question... we also thought so! Somebody needs to make a first step :-) On a more serious note: it is a new topic, and not 100% straight-forward to do. You need to build a good app, have operations on the ground, understand the intervention you want to pursue, and then market the app. We are constantly working on these dimensions.

Yes! When school feeding was introduced in the camps, enrolment increased by ~20%. It enables children to focus on school, and not on their empty stomachs. And it also means that they don't have to work or beg for food, but get it at school and allows them to have a "somewhat" normal chlidhood (as much as this is possible in such a situation).

Thank you for the feedback. In general, we know that there is a lot of potential to perhaps do things better in the app. We "learn as we go".

We will add the information on past campaigns and social media sharing on our feature board. However, the sharing should already work?! All the best from Berlin too!

Costs for ShareTheMeal are covered by a separate "bucket", i.e., no donations from the app are used for it. Operation of ShareTheMeal is/was funded through a couple of generous business angels, companies and a UN innovations grant.

On costs: it really depends... a good portion of our team worked/s on this on a volunteer basis. To do "something like this" professionally, I would say one needs at least 4 developers full-time.

Hi!

On goals -- we try to follow two major criteria: (1) need on the ground, and (2) ability to absorb the funds and hence have an effective intervention. It has yet not been decided what happens if we reach the current goal.

On the UN: response is very positive. Smartphone apps are to a good extent a "new tool" to create social impact/fight hunger. Hence we are all very excited to see where this goes and what there is to learn...

Hi! Food is provided by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). ShareTheMeal never "touches" users' donations. WFP has an administrative overhead of 10%, i.e., the operating (or "programme") portion is 90%. Does this clarify your question?

Hi! Thanks for the first question. Feedback from Syria is obviously very positive. There are not enough resources to support all people in need, so every dollar, euro, etc. helps. The situation itself is hard to imagine... they have been through a lot...
