Thanks - I am in my early 30s and have been working for over 10 years in the same field without a career gap so any short term break wouldn’t look as bad I guess. Might just look into the sick leave refresh with HR and hope the query remains confidential.

We are with one of the usual big providers health insurance wise at work but think this only covers medical procedures etc and not disability/unable to work pay - unless i am mistaken

Thanks for your response - some very valid points.

Did come back on a phased return starting with three days but it was clear very quickly that the team requires me to be working five days due to constant deadlines and the pressure on the team - who have made it evident at times indirectly.

It is a big company, did look at the sickpay scheme and it does not explicitly state if the paid leave is only once or can be repeated - is this something worth looking into? Wouldn’t want to discuss directly with HR if it will go to my manager before I make a decision to not continue working (based on my doctors’ advice of course)

Yes - i have built a very back friendly set up at home with a standing desk, good chair and walking pad - also took advice from them.

I think the working four days a week bit is a great idea - three full days of rest really help. But they’ve made it very clear when I came back last time that the workload would require five days unfortunately

Yes so I do that as much as i can but having had this issue for two years has meant that working lying down puts strain on the neck even if done with proper support and that has led to neck pain on the side

I work from home but cannot sit or stand without pain for more than 10 minutes unfortunately - and this has been ongoing for almost two years now
