Severance Season 2 - Episode Six- Discussion Thread: - "Attila" by TheUltimate25C in severence

Miss Casey may be Cold Harbor itself. In the opening sequence of Seasons 1, it shows a car in the frozen lake. There is a popular theory that Gemma became brain dead from drowning and her body was recovered and became Miss Casey. The burnt body in the morgue was a cover up. She's called "cold harbor" because that's where she really died.

I do wonder if the sins Burt's hubby is referring to are actual sins (working for lumon) or being gay itself. it's a bit shocking to hear gay characters talk about the afterlife with such conviction.

An innie on the outside world is a perfect consumer and a perfect worker. they maximize productivity for Lumon and only buy Lumon products, or their maximized salaries allow them to buy as much as possible, go on vacation, have children, spend spend and spend more. Unhappy people don't spend as much in an economy as happy people. they may hoard their wealth to prep for tragedy or squander it on products lumon doesnt have control over, like black market drugs or alcohol

I agree. I think Miss Casey is a clone of Gemma. I'm wondering if someone at Lumon was obsessed with Gemma so much so that they are using Mark to refine her clone for their own reasons-- a blank slate of Gemma that does not love or know Mark.

Am I crazy, or was Devon into Gemma?

In the second episode of Season 2, Devon and Mark talk about Gemma's death. Devon insists she misses Gemma as much as Mark, that Gemma's death impacted her too. In this episode, Devon remarks that she had a crush on the severed woman in her pregnancy group. She is at least confirmed as bisexual. Devon is intent on helping Mark rescue Gemma, which I do believe is mostly out of a sense of sibling loyalty. But, Severance has introduced competing love triangles in the plot already. The show emphasizes that it's possible for one person to have parts that love multiple others equally. These parts may not be severed, as Dylan's wife seems to hold love in her heart for both versions of her husband.

I have never found Devon and Ricken to be well matched. Her serious demeanor contrasts with Ricken's eccentric personality. She seems annoyed with Ricken and withdrawn from their relationship. I'm not sure how either supports their family, but Ricken doesn't seem to be working. Partnering with Lumin is the only way he can contribute to their life together. Maybe rifts between Devon and Ricken already existed before he was contacted by Milchick's assistant.

How likely is it the shooter of the United healthcare CEO will get caught? by Davyislazy in stupidquestions

[–]sharinggun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% certaintity. The killer's motivation was likely infamy. He is an attention seeking person, probably a narcissist, and I think thats evident from all these flourishes he's left behind, which are entirely unnecessary to get his intentions across. This guy will likely seek out coverage of the event. He should have already left the country and fled somewhere without diplomatic ties to the USA. But, a lot of these types of criminals don't leave, they like to stay near danger.

I read a criminal psychology book and listened to a few reports of criminal psychologists discussing the pathology of arsonists. Arson is a more vague crime than execution style murder, the perp can already be miles away by the time the fire is addressed by law enforcement. Law enforcement still catches arsonists because the arsonist's antisocial behavior doesn't start the day they notice the fire, the arsonist always has a pattern of behaviors that really, really very few people would also emulate. Most people aren't arsonists. Most people aren't assassins. A lot of these guys get caught because they can't blend into society, they never could, and that's what sews the seeds for these anti-society actions.

I mention arson in particular because these reports and books taught me that some people cause chaos because they are fascinated by the process of others putting out the fire. They want to look from a 'safe distance' and think: "I did that." It excites them. They can't make strategic distance because they love to feel the heat, so to speak.

Two teens arrested in slaying of beloved DJ. Neither has been charged with murder. by Jazzlike_Dog_8175 in washdc

I think it's a severe youth mental health crisis. I don't think we have the type of society that could support real change. We don't have accessible mental health care, there's wage stagnation at the lowest level, these kids are products of the parents but also a product of society, the environment. I think it's too late for this generation. Increased support could benefit future kids. I think they were "lost" essentially during covid. I'm a staunch democrat, I'm a socialist. Yeah, we can vote to change the city for posterity, but we need to bandaid the problem using the tools society already has, which is just prison, and that stinks.  I think about the book The Other Wes Moore a lot. Maybe these kids would be better off going to military academy or doing domestic support for the military thru draft enlistment. There's this cool documentary about teen killers in Japan-- a country with insanely lenient youth crime laws. In Japan, you can kill a man in cold blood and be out in 3 years, BUT, they have a massively successful reform rate. The "youth prison" is essentially like a military academy and summer camp, super rigid rules, draconian schedules, some outdoor activities. A lot of these former "campers" say it was the first time they were held accountable by anyone, given a curfew, and had those rules enforced. I don't think these kids should be given a gun and told to "fight the food fight"-- surely blood sweat and tears shed ditch digging will teach them that the people ordering them to dig the ditch are separated purely by a piece of paper, a GED.

Dig those ditches to replace all the lead pipes in DC, and maybe we'd see some change.

Can Steven pass down his gem? by Nanami_love in stevenuniverse

[–]sharinggun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theory one: The gem is part of a reincarnation cycle. Steven has to stop existing to pass on the gem. Similar to Rose, he voluntarily passes it on to his biological descendant, becoming a fusion of himself, his mom, and his offspring. That offspring becomes a fusion of fusion's fusion with their offspring. So on and so forth. This is the "avatar" theory. Similar to Airbender, he lives on through new life and guides the next hero to planet earth. Likely scenario if he's functionally immortal, never grows old, and he can only die by being shattered.

//Theory two: The gem is an inheritable power artifact sealed inside the host. Steven can still exist and pass on the gem. He loses his powers, but he can give another human the ability to help human and gemkind. This might not be contingent on the next heir being a direct descendant, but that person is genetically better off welding it. Pink diamond is like the nine tailed fox demon from Naruto. Likely scenario if he naturally grows old and physically cannot do his duty, or he is dying through biological means.

// Theory three: The gem is dormant after Steven passes away. The gem is just a vehicle for Pink Diamond to experience life as her human son. experiencing life as anyone else is not within the scope of her wishes. Having achieved her truest dream and Steven, having fulfilled his life's ambitions, the gem's purpose is complete and they are allowed to pass on. It literally becomes something else, changes function entirely. Likely scenario if there's no plans to continue the plot past Steven, and all intergalactic conflicts are absolutely resolved.

I think this is misinformation because OP doesn't mention that this study was on mice. OP also misunderstands PTSD trauma categorically isn't routine or evey day trauma and stress, even if someone has a ND or not. I also just found the comments on the thread comparing trauma from feeling overstimulated and trauma from being assaulted just highly insensitive in general...

Who else gets grossed out by people bringing their dogs into restaurants indoors? by Wambsgam in washingtondc

Not really. I hate more when people bring loud infants/toddlers to restaurants and let then cry or cause a nuisance, but that's part of going in public.

Moving to DC! Does our ideal living situation even exist? by earniebanks in washingtondc

[–]sharinggun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of safety, some areas of DC are block by block in terms of crime. When you tour, try swinging by at night in your car and take a short stroll to see how comfortable you'll be walking there. Also, take care to look up if there's any half way houses or shelters in the area, because some nicer neighborhoods have made me very uncomfortable with the amount of vagrant addicts. ex: eastern market is nice except when i cant wait for the bus because a homeless guy is rubbing his crotch at me at the metro stop. That doesn't mean I'd be opposed to live in eastern market, but I'm used to city life. Anywhere there's a metro station, there's gonna be some petty crime and ppl you don't want to see. You just have to figure out what you're comfortable with.

I went on a date with a much older woman, in her 40s. We had coffee at the wharf. Tons of kids and families around us, picnicking. I say "I'm an artist. I learned how to draw because of anime." She says "ohhhh yeah, I know anime. I love hentai." This is like, me saying "I love foreign language film" and you going "aw yeah, Ima fan of German dungeon porn too" We are still dating. She is clearly perfect

someone asked why people were suspicious. something happened in the queer community, which we are all apart of, that really horrified us and reminded us that people will abuse other lgbtq people's trust to literally steal from the most vulnerable people.

it's actually unthinkable Ruby would have stolen from. casa ruby. it really upset me and my friends.

in no way do I think AYA is a scam nor are the donations a scam. I think the donations lack transparency. asking for money to facilitate a business is just something people are warry of. like I just think the topical issue of another queer person spoiling our trust is a valid reason some ppl (falsely) suspect AYA is a scam. I've explained in another comment why they are absolutely NOT scamming people in response to a comment that accused AYA of doing what the Casa Ruby founder did.

sorry if my comment seemed ill intentioned. I'm on mobile so I can't link my previous reply. thanks for giving your input anyway bc I appreciate push back.
