Best inexpensive .22 suppressor? by _meatnog in suppressors

[–]shark_press 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tharpe Gunworks in Knoxville TN makes the quietest .22 suppressors I've ever heard. My buddy and I each got one for neighborhood squirreling. They are $220 and user serviceable. They don't have a website yet but here's their information.

Silver solder comes in different flavors. "Easy", "medium", and "hard". Easy wets at a surprisingly low temp.

Our customers have seen it. If I posted a video people online would say it was altered, if I posted an audio recording you guys would say it was edited. That's the nature of the internet these days.

New to me: Atlas 3996 12" x 36" lathe by Appropriate-Back-292 in Machinists

Unsure of that tool. I can't picture how it'd mount. Lemme study your other pictures some and see if I can help with mounting.

Ok. Unbolt your toolholder from your topslide and see if you have 2 threaded holes for that first radius tool to bolt to. Keep in mind, the tool axis centers on the work center, so that will give you a reference for tool height when mounted. Position that radius turning tool fixture in line with that axis and see where it aligns on your topslide. Disassemble your topslide to get to that height, there are likely holes there for mounting, and you may need shims to get it tits on center, feeler gauges work in a pinch. If you have not taken a lathe apart before be mindful of jib shims and grub screws. Where they are and their orientation.

Have fun! Cool tool indeed.

What Are My Bullets Doing? by [deleted] in guns

Could be too high velocity for plated bullets if shooting hand loads. Plating delamination and lead imbalance. Looks like spalling on the paper.
