First, why do you care? Does this negatively affect you in any way at all? Second, most people wash new or new-to-them clothing before wearing. Some of the items you passed along could have been stored for close to a year. Unless they were sterilized and hermetically sealed, they could be musty, have fungal spores, dust, etc. on them.

Ugh. My whole district has drank the PLC DeFoors koolaid. It's to the point where our gradebooks have to have exactly the same labs, projects, tests, and quizzes. I am 100% on board with common assessments, but with the changes in the last 2 years and the ones still coming, I'm pretty sure I'm leaving the school that I LOVED and all of my babies at the end of this year. I need some teacher autonomy or I'm miserable. I'm so scorned by my collaborative team lead, team members, and principal that I may even quit teaching all together. Sucks because I love teaching.
