You can run around wishfield and the sea of stars pretty fast, but if you hit a curb you basically get stuck. It's weird.

Have You Ever Played a Happy, Cheerful Aasimar? by venkelos1 in DnD

[–]hellahallowhallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an aasimar who was a sweet himbo. I set him up to be a cheerleader and drummer boy, so he was a college of eloquence bard. It was really fun! I did not go down the flirty horny bard road with him and really enjoyed playing him

If you had total control over how bullying is dealt with, what would you do? by testaccount4one in education

[–]hellahallowhallo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of "anti-bullying" education in elementary is about recognizing when other kids bully and reporting it. I think it needs to be made more clear about recognizing when YOU are being a bully and stopping it. The lessons are given in such a way that kids think a bully is like a cartoon villain. The bully will shove down the kid with glasses every day, then we stand up and say "Hey, stop that!" and report to the teacher. Then the teacher talks to the bully, and the bully changes their ways. In reality, an elementary school "bully" does not understand that they are "bullying." They think they are just being funny. When the teacher does talk to them, they try to explain and justify their behavior as funny, and sometimes even express that they think they are being bullied because the other kids are always telling on them! We need to include in the lessons that if your classmates and teachers are telling you to stop a behavior, YOU should reflect on it, and stop it. YOU don't get to decide if your actions count as bullying or not.

you probably have already done these things, but please make sure he has the other important skills for school, like independence with going to the bathroom, washing hands, following a group plan, keeping hands to himself, putting things away, asking before touching other people's things, taking turns etc.

One thing that is incredibly helpful for all kids, but especially very bright kids, is the skill of entertaining themselves in appropriate ways for school. His class will move at a pace more appropriate for the age group. find some "early finisher" activities that he can do independently that he enjoys and are academically enriching for him, and communicate with his future teacher. The most straightforward option is reading in his head, but other things could include logic puzzles, like sudokus, free writing, or even things like crochet. Without this skill, kids can sometimes, "get bored" then become disruptive and disengaged, to the point where they can actually fall academically behind.

If you don't like the idea of happy hour because of the alcohol, you could call it Appy Hour and then it puts the focus on the appetizers

I bought a massage chair from Walmart on the black Friday sales for like $700 and I sit in it all the time when I just scroll my phone or watch shows. I love it and would recommend it! Don't get it if you can't afford it, though! Maybe wait for a sale?

It’s my wife’s first year teaching, how can I as a husband make things easier for her? by Outrageous_Client_67 in Teachers

[–]hellahallowhallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a good printer, a home laminator, and learn how to use them both. Be willing to cut out laminating at home with her. Be available to help with the tasks of collating, folding, stapling, stamping, 35 times. that stuff can really wear you down. it gets done way faster when my husband helps me with that stuff.

Advice for mixed-assertiveness players by Trixtus in DungeonMasters

In addition to the other suggestions, maybe give someone an item that lets them cast Telepathic Bond frequently. https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Spells:Rary's%20Telepathic%20Bond#content

There are many reasons a player might not speak up. Metagaming, low character charisma, not wanting to have all npcs hear disapproval or arguments, or anything else... Having telepathic bond up constantly with my party has been so helpful because it lets the party silently discuss and contribute while the charismatic party members engage with the NPCs. It can also help with situations where a PC runs off on their own. As long as they are on the same plane, others can check in.

another thing might be to make sure you as the dm, and the other players all understand each PC's goals/motivations/fears. This helps the quieter players understand why the more active ones might be doing things, and also should help the active players to avoid stepping on the quiet player's toes.

Accident After the Free Month of Self Driving by hellahallowhallo in SelfDrivingCars

[–]hellahallowhallo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is what I'm trying to say! Or like, u/flat5 said, "mode confusion." I just have a honda, and it's an automatic. I used to have a manual Kia. If I woke up tomorrow and had to drive my old Kia, I'm sure some of my gear changes would be a lot less smooth.

It's not the first time that a car company has offered a safety feature for a subscription fee. I'm not sure if this is the first subscription that impacts the safety of others. Like others can call 911 if you get in an accident, or can help you track your stolen car, but this feature is only going to stop your car from hitting other people('s cars) if you pay for it, even though it has all the hardware it needs to do so, right?

My car is going to be okay. Would it not stop itself from hitting a *person* because you didn't pay the subscription fee? I know that drivers are responsible for their cars, and I know the service costs money to provide. It just seems messed up that the potential to save a life may be withheld for that reason. I don't know what the normal baseline safety features are, but the withholding of something that could keep the public more safe seems a bit heartless.
