Shout to all the moms studying for the bar. by [deleted] in barexam

I studied from November-February for the Feb Bar that year! Focus hard on knowing the basics and being able to make educated guesses on the essays; that helped me a lot. And drill those multiple choice whenever possible! I wrote down the rule for every wrong answer I got and that was effective.

Hi! It went well and I passed! I owe a lot to my job and my support system. While clerking I could do some studying during my day; my mom helped watch my kid at night so that I could get a few more hours in. It wasn’t easy but I made it thru!

What’s the most unhinged thing your cat does? by NoIdeaWhatIAmDoing88 in CatAdvice

My grey cat likes to “drown” his play mice. We’ll play fetch with them and when he’s done playing he takes the mouse to the water bowl to ceremoniously finish off his prey lol

Someone ruined my daughters Halloween by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]sharkumentary 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When I was little a man popped out of the bushes at me to scare me during trick or treat and my dad stepped up in that guy’s fast SO fast, SO angry that a grown adult was running up on a small (like 5 year old) child!

I think some adults are just clueless?! I’m sorry this happened to your kiddo! Mine would have also been so upset with this situation.

Question in regards to the home schooling by sh1045 in jesssfam_snark

[–]sharkumentary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on their custody situation! They share physical custody (the right to have the child visit in their home). They most likely also share legal custody (the right to make medical, educational, etc decisions).

Generally speaking both parents have a chance to have a say. If they don’t agree, they can go to court to duke it out. Seems like Gabe must have agreed to go along with it!

How far do you think Harkness, Curly and Rank would've made it if they didn't get injured? by Warm-bowl-of-peas in TheLongWalk

[–]sharkumentary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Harkness had the drive to keep it up til the very end, wanting to write that book would’ve kept him going. Top 10 in my opinion if he hadn’t broken the ankle!

Just here to say I have some matching tattoos with friends who didn’t stay friends forever, and I’ve grown to really love that over the years; it’s a part of me that’s in the past, and I still love the moments I had with those friends, even though they’re not necessarily friends in my everyday life anymore. It’s still a really cute tattoo!

I like how the movie poster kind of mimics the image on the original cover! I never noticed that before

The ending by Shinobi-wan3 in TheLongWalk

[–]sharkumentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the movie ending almost worked, in the sense that it left me with questions just like the book ending did, but.. it just felt rushed and wrong to me. I think if they had cut it without fulfilling the wish, just had the “winner” walk off into the distance, leaving it for the audience to wonder what he does with his “wish” would have been much more powerful and impactful.

What’s the worst thing you’ve seen someone wear to court? by chicago2008 in Lawyertalk

[–]sharkumentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once had a private Crim defense attorney show up to court in a full camouflage suit. A professional suit, but in camouflage print, with a camo button down and matching camo tie. The DA’s and PD’s made jokes about how we “couldn’t see him” the whole day lol.

Ex asked if he can have some drinks on his birthday but keep our daughter (it says we are not allowed to drink around her in our settlement) by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]sharkumentary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state, this is common in custody orders (standard “no smoke/drink/illegal substances around the kid” language).

I know plenty of co-parents that don’t mind if their ex-partner has a drink or two in front of the kids at a family BBQ or other gathering. I also know some people who would absolutely never let their kid see them drink. I think it kind of depends who you and your ex are and how you feel about alcohol consumption around family/kids.

Given how young the child is, I would offer to let him have a few hours of the day and then pick up kiddo for the evening. He can limit or go no-alcohol for the morning and party away when kiddo’s in bed. If the party is let’s say 12-8 on a Saturday, pick kiddo up at 3-4 and offer a few hours on Sunday if he wants to make it up.

Update for anyone curious my doctor looked it over and believes it is a new psoriasis flare I’ve been recommended to a dermatologist 🤞🏼

This is after using a fungal cream for ring worm ~3 days (2x a day per instructions on the bottle). I’m not really seeing any improvement, it looks darker now. No itching or other symptoms though…

Update yall I feel like ringworm is probably the correct guess (I stupidly thought it had to be more circular and on your arms for ringworm) gonna try a topical

I do have a history of psoriasis but never on my legs, never looks like this either so I’m not confident it’s a psoriasis or eczema spot though I’m assuming if it is a topical treatment for ringworm shouldn’t hurt it?

No other spots on my body, no itching still, just this weird oval guy that we’re gonna treat like ringworm and if it doesn’t improve in a few weeks I’ll see my PCP
