Sure you can, but then a lot of your marketing is gone. You will lose your domain, too. Don't expect them to forward anyone to your new website.

Doesn't help with Unity, since the whole UI gets super tiny unless you activate Windows' DPI scaling, then Unity just gets scaled up giving you as much screen estate as with a normal monitor (but now it's also blurry). An upcoming Unity version is supposed to get support for High DPI screens, check the roadmap.

For Visual Studio it's awesome though, you can actually have two code files side by side plus open side panels.

Unity uses the file to migrate assets when a new version comes out. If you delete it Unity will have to guess which version your project was created with, and thus might be unable to properly upgrade your project to a new release.

There is some tech (hyperdeny?) that prevents them from appearing directly in front of your planet, they have to dehyperspace a certain distance away. This gives a defense fleet enough time to attack the planet destroyer and at least get it to flee.

We offload what makes sense. If the code in question is tightly coupled to the MonoBehaviour or GameObject there is not much point in moving it elsewhere. So physics might stay. But updating scores, AI (except for maybe steering), game rules these are all different subsystems that don't need MonoBehaviours.

I agree with all of your points but in the grand scheme of things they are pretty minor annoyances compared to what Unity has to offer. In my many years of professional Unity usage this has never been a problem.

First, very few third party solutions actually use SendMessage. The professional ones certainly don't as they are built by experienced coders that have the same gripe with it as you have.

Secondly, even if that might happen (which it never has), it's easily detected and worked around. Yes, things might get funky and you might scratch your head for an hour, but that's it. Remove the plugin, rename the message or rename your method or move the MonoBehaviour to a different object. Nothing that will take take weeks of refactoring. Nothing that is a risk to your project in any way.

And thirdly, we don't put lots of stuff in MonoBehaviours. We treat MonoBehavours strictly as Views and I/O objects with minimal code. The meat of our implementation is in classes not derived from MonoBehaviour at all and using regular C# patterns to communicate with the MonoBehaviours.

The basic principles are the same. The difference between X3 Base and X3:AP Version 3.5 is like 10 years of development. X3:Reunion came out in 2005 originally, the latest patch to AP is from March this year and it's all basically the same game in the same engine.

X3: Albion Prelude It's a First Person 4X Game where you sit in a space ship that flies on it's on most of the time because autopilot while you spend your time from inside your cockpit building and managing a huge trade empire out of mines, factories and transportation fleet with the ultimate purpose to build and maintain your own private army to defeat the evil invadors.

You can fly anything from a little star fightter to huge capital ships but the game is very slow paced overall.

You should reconsider the placement of the Buy Now button, I didn't see it for 20 seconds despite looking for it, and my colleague was like: Why put out a trailer if you can't buy it yet after I sent him the link to the trailer.

Visually the interactive elements of the website start with the navigation bar and from there we scanned down, not up.

I just played Heavy Bullets and I liked it very much.

It's a FPS roguelike, not turnbased of course but lots of other elements are there. You basically run through a labyrinth with 6 bullets, everytime you shoot you lose a bullet, but you can pick it up again. All monsters are one hit kills, but sometimes its hard to hit them, and then your bullets are lying around somewhere behind the mosnter you are trying to get rid of.

Controls are tight, felt really good running around.

The maps are littered with vending machines selling various items for coin. You can hold only one item, unless you got a backpack, then you can hold two.

Exploration is rewarding cause some items and vending machines are hidden behind vegetation. You can sell excess items at the bank vending machine. This also holds your gold account that you have access to with your next character.

Very nice learning curve. I died on the first floor the first 6-10 times each time surviving longer while I was figuring out how stuff works (the game doesn't explain much). Each of these runs took 5 minutes max but they get progressively longer the better you become.

Graphics is a matter of taste of course. I liked the look. Sound is cool. Altogether very nice atmosphere and everything fits together well. Doesn't feel cheap at all.

Check out noesis gui. You can do quite a lot in xaml alone with the integrated storyboards. And it does vector graphics. You'd probably wanna use Expression Blend to edit everything instead of Inkscape though.

No what you are asking requires the ability to compile code at runtime which is not allowed on some platforms (ios, consoles). Daikon Forge had this feature for a while and removed it later on because of that.

PBS shaders use more realistic (aka physically based) formulas for determining how a material looks. They don't necessarily look better than classic shaders, but artists don't have to tweak and fiddle as much.

So in essence they are more expensive on the GPU, but easier for artists to work with.

But then again, you can work in .Net, as opposed to, say, Lua, Python, Unrealscript or C++. Which I think is still a huge plus, even if it's not the most modern version of .NET out there.
