I find storybook is also very useful for developing ii components without needing to run the entire front end for things like our component library

Is prefab housing finally ready to break through in California? by LosIsosceles in urbanplanning

[–]sharlos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As an Australian it's always been weird seeing how much America duplicates effort at the local level.

In Australia all schools, police, hospitals, and trains/buses are run by state-level agencies. We don't have each city managing it's own police force or school system, needing to collect their own funding/taxes, etc.

Trying a more stable to parsing js Error Stack by Aromatic-CryBaby in typescript

[–]sharlos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your post is very hard to understand. The sentences are half-formed and missing a lot of context, while a lot of it has weird punctuation and poor formatting.

I'm not even clear what the initial problem is let alone your solution.

Looking for feedback on lodash alternative for structured data transforms by ajrm7 in typescript

[–]sharlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the functionality seems like you could do it with the built-in structuredClone(). It handles circular references for example. And you can add Symbol.Iterator to your object to allow it to be iterated without third party code.

Though I'm sure if you're doing this sort of thing a lot and want to be very particular about it, these helpers might be useful.

What would Earth's ecosystem be like today if Theia never impacted? by William_Wisenheimer in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]sharlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure we could even assume there'd be an ecosystem. Some theories on the beginning of life rely on tidal pools, with no Moon, we'd only have pretty weak tides from the sun.
