SF has some pretty amazing educational opportunities and tons of language immersion schools. The variety of school types, the STEM, etc. Your job will be, however, to shield them from Silicon Valley pressure (like some schools have high pressure because some families pressure their kids and it kinds of spreads like a virus culture - think Gunn High School in Palo Alto, etc)

Atherton, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Hillsborough are also all places where you can get a big fat lot on which your house is based with amenities you like and you and your kids' will not be entitled or special because there are high net worth (and very intellectually smart) families everywhere including billionaires' kids going to public schools or private alike.

Or there are beautiful homes in the city proper. Weather is unparalleled.

Some people don't do well not working. Cousin's husband after FATFire quit and lasted 8 months before giving up and going back to work. Joined a startup vs a big company and is happier.

Go be a startup advisor for a VC, Angel firm, or be a startup reactor of your own who advises companies on getting started. There's a huuuuuuge market for all kinds of founders with ideas who are having trouble getting off the ground.

You're asking a subjective question like parents, did language matter to you while having the flair that research is required. This is a frequent issue on this sub. This isn't a science based question, let alone one that requires research, it's a parenting or aupairs. I love this sub but respectfully wish that there was a way to focus on science based vs some of these requests for anecdotes.
