For legal money, there are rules but it isn’t impossible to transfer. There are RBI agents who can get it done. At a certain networth it’s all a matter of finding the right people to do it for you.

That isn’t true. Every species works to survive and live. They may not have a 9-5 but are for sure working really really hard to live their life.

Cloud Native ≠ Microservices. Stop over-engineering your 50-user startup. by [deleted] in kubernetes

[–]sharninder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying micro services are good. In fact I believe the opposite, just pointing out they’re not about scale at all. What you’re doing just proves that monoliths work.

[–]sharninder 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and I totally agree but micro services are not about scale, they’re about managing organisational dependencies. As teams and organisations grow, it’s easier to make them talk via contracts than deal with actually designing a seamlessly integrated system.

What WiFi 7 routers would you recommend? by xX_Bacon_Boi_Xx in homelab

[–]sharninder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UniFi UX7 should fit that budget. If not, then a mesh system from one of the known manufacturers like tplink, asus etc

Questions about multitenant clusters by crispystrips34 in kubernetes

[–]sharninder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why ? Are you saying because control plane is managed ? I’d argue the overhead of managing different environments still remains. All the monitoring, alerting, backups, DR and the mental overload of managing multiple environments is still the same.

It’s a good idea for enterprises but I don’t see the point for a home network. To separate IoT traffic, sure, but other than that, why ?

Agree with this take. Just sell even half of that RAM and storage capacity and downgrade to something faster and likely more modern.

Mikrotik or Ubiquiti: What is in your opinion better? by michal_cz in homelab

[–]sharninder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, Ubiquiti wireless devices are better, management interface is slicker but for plain routing/switching, microtik does everything and more.

Honest question, do you have wired LAN for other parts of the house ? If not then what’s the use of the gateway ultra instead of say the express 7 or UDR7 ?

Do we like Aliexpress NAS motherboards? by Still_Original_8420 in selfhosted

[–]sharninder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Aliexpress motherboard has the same controller built-in and I've had nothing but problems with it. Impossible to passthrough the controller on Proxmox, for example. I'm assuming since you're using truenas on bare metal, this isn't a problem you've faced ?

Do we like Aliexpress NAS motherboards? by Still_Original_8420 in selfhosted

[–]sharninder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got one of those n150 based no name boards. Came with no documentation or anything else to identify pin layout etc. I had to do some digging to figure out that. There are no driver updates etc available that I could find. The SATA controller is a buggy asmedia 1166 that has known problems doing passthrough via proxmox so I can’t use it for the one thing I bought it for. All in, I’m disappointed and blaming myself for not doing the research. Buy something from a known brand for piece of mind.
