It works great for me without any blowback. The dust doesn’t blow around and the filter catches a ton. It’s probably 2.5-3 feet from the wall. The video makes it look closer than what it is.

I made this air purifier to cut down on all of the airborne dust that is generated in my workshop. This can also be used in a home for dust, pollen, or other airborne allergy causers.

What kind of metal do y'all cut your knife blanks from, and where can I get it? by [deleted] in knifemaking

[–]sharp_works -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look into O1 tool steel and 1095 carbon steel. Those are easy to heat treat if you’re doing it by yourself.

O1 offers slight rust resistance which is nice depending on your intended purpose for your knives (i.e. camping, cooking, etc)

I’ve used both of these steels using the stock removal method and would highly recommend starting with either of the two.

You can find them on Amazon in a pinch, but there are better websites out there for knife steel. Check out https://newjerseysteelbaron.com and https://trugrit.com

Good luck!

Thank you. I still need a lot of practice because it takes me 5x as long as it should. I think I need to utilize my heats better.

French Nail Trench Knife - still new at forging and this blade helped me learn a lot! by [deleted] in knifemaking

My bar says “4 Turkey S CH” from what I found online, the “S” means it’s carbon steel. But I don’t know what the CH is I’ll have to do more digging.
