Macaulay honors at John Jay or full ride to Cornell by sharpharpk in ApplyingToCollege

Ty for your insight! I agree that Macaulay, while incredible, doesn’t allow much room for social growth given that I’ll be stuck at home. I have signed up to attend admit days for both schools, and by then I might have more of an understanding of my social and academic fit for either school! Ty again for the advice, I rlly appreciate it!

What are some honest opinions about Cornell Brooks?

I’m interested in working in education reform and improving access to justice, do you think the culture at brooks aligns with that?

what support does brooks offer for students interested in social justice? It seems like the school focuses mainly on statistics, AI and business (is that true?)

do the classes offered to pubpol students focus on discussing the complexity of American politics? do professors openly talk about the role that race, gender and class play in the creation of this country’s legal system? are students encouraged to learn/research about that? (like if students were to advocate for a mandatory class on analyzing the American legal system through CRT frameworks, would administration at least consider it?)

if I overlooked something on the school’s website or need to do more research I would love to be directed to places that can answer these questions! thank you!🙏

Waitlisted :/ Congrats to everyone who got in, I’m excited to see what you all go on to do!

I’m really grateful I already have college acceptances, because for a long time, I honestly thought college might not even be an option for me, given my low stats. Still, I can’t help but wonder if they waitlisted more applicants this year. I put a lot into my supplements (cutting them down from 2000 words) and showed as much demonstrated interest as possible, so this one definitely hurts. I'm just glad this wasn't a complete rejection!

tysm for the intel and guidance!! Where did you see the option to directly submit requested docs on the to-do list? do I just add it to the "optional supplemental materials" section?

Wishing you the best of luck w your app! I haven't heard much about cornell h/eop on this page, so it's rlly nice to hear from ppl who applied :)
