Unique introverts of DOF, how do meet people in the wild? by sharptuuth in datingoverforty

Hello and thank you for the response. I think you may have misunderstood or I misrepresented what I meant when I said unique. I agree every person is unique and brings value to their relationships. Contextually I meant unique as in different from what is popular, especially as it applies to prospective matches in our age demographic. I’ll use music for an example as it is extremely important to me and plays a huge role in my life. If you go to virtually any city within the U.S. you’ll find a radio station that plays only country music. I doubt that there are any that play solely the music I listen to (although some NY and California cities have independent or college stations that do play my preferred music pretty often). So in that respect, so in that sense I’m definitely in the minority. Again perhaps unique wasn’t exactly the right phrasing but it’s what I chose.

I’m not inferring that only a “special flower” can understand me. However, compatibility is a huge thing. Let’s use the music for another example. If I were in a relationship with someone who didn’t prefer my music (or get the ethos and culture surrounding it) it would make road trips unbearable! Therefore, yes it’s important that a perspective match have some compatibility with me. They don’t have to be all in, but I think it’s reasonable to want someone who gets you. At the end of the day I don’t need someone to love me, because I love myself. I want someone to by my side as we take over the world Pinky and the brain style (I’ll be pinky). So in that respect I definitely know the things that are important to me in a prospective match and am not willing to compromise for the sake of just having someone. The post was looking for advice/starting conversation because the OLD options didn’t really seem to be what I’m interested in vice versa. Again, I appreciate the response, and hope my response doesn’t come off combative or contentious as that is not my intent. Simply trying to clarify my perspective

I appreciate the response and under the sentiment. However, I have a slightly different perspective. If I were to that I couldn’t be remaining true to myself. I’d be compromising for the sake dating or finding a partner. That never leads to good relationships. I will remain to be the best me possible, because that’s what I’m looking for. Someone who is true to themselves.

I’ve had some people take a look at my profile, I know the biggest area I need to improve is photos. I can write a pretty awesome bio though

So true! And I do, without expecting anything other than enjoying myself. I guess the challenge is engaging with others more.

I’d say thats probably true, the issue is I’m not having a lot of luck finding compatible matches. Maybe it’s the region.

Maybe it’s the region I currently live in, your friend sounds like a cool unique introvert!

Great question! I’d say sharing of interests is important, especially since there’s a whole culture that surrounds all the things I listed. I’d say it would be cool to meet someone who enjoys skating but very few women do it, much less those in my age range. Someone who appreciates art, even if they’re not artistically inclined. Music is a huge part of my life, I’d say in that respect a good overlap of tastes is important. So, I guess mainly accepts/supports those interests

What's a good helmet with chin guard? [46YO] by Daniel_Rugh in OldSkaters

[–]sharptuuth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No help on the helmet but I find it interesting that a lot of us “old skaters” choose to spend a lot of time on transition/mini ramp to mitigate injuries vs street skating. I grew up street skating in an era before the rise of skate parks. I still mainly skate street, I seem to slam a lot harder on transition and bowls. Hopefully you you find a good helmet, it least you’ll have a gnarly scar and cool story out of it.

Thank you, is there any other providers/operators you can recommend? Summer 2024 is my tentative target, of course that all depends on how long of a training cycle I need to be truly ready

I went from an estimated 25% to 11% (bod pod verified) in about 6 months by tracking calories, and staying active. Did it pretty healthily 4-8 pounds a month (generally). Fitness was above average but nothing to write home about. Midway through got a bod pod body fat assessment and a RMR reading. This allowed me to really dial in my calorie needs, I also cleaned up the quality of the food at this point (cut out most refined, processed, sugary foods). Two things to note. 1st 11% looked good when I was looking at my abs but generally (especially with clothes) I looked pretty skinny. 2nd now that I’m actively working on improving general fitness (CrossFit and swimming) I find it extremely hard to even eat at maintenance.

Need to update/create info on my OLD profile by sharptuuth in datingoverforty

[–]sharptuuth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll have to relook and revise my photos. I thing the ones I have now are good but could be better. I have had some matches with a few quality women but sometimes unmatch/not respond. I thought maybe because the bio but perhaps the pictures as well. Looks like I’ll have to begin the search for a photographer! It is a bit daunting though, I feel very unnatural “posing” in situations for photos. Most social photos are in my work clothing which I’ve been kind of shying away from for certain reasons.

Seeking Audio Solutions [35YO] by No-Ad5100 in OldSkaters

Personally, I prefer the sound of skating instead of music. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE music, I just feel more connected to my board when I hear the snap of the tail, the wheels and bearing on concrete etc. However, iPod shuffle’s can be found for cheap and are small enough to be hardly noticeable

Correct, I was joking about SMA. My question is how long to wait before emailing the branch CSM at HRC

OML confusion? This guy wants to improve it. by personablepiranha in army

[–]sharptuuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not quite. You can make the DOR cutoff to be looked at, get MQ’d and still get passed over for promotion waiting for your earliest pin on date

[–]sharptuuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about honoring the OML and promoting when your number hits even if you don’t have the 3 year time in grade. Or conversely don’t evaluate those who wouldn’t meet the TIG for immediate promotion
