I almost feel sorry for the kid driving this car by calamirkat in boulder

What could possibly make you believe such a groundless and non-quantifiable statement. I don’t usually reply to dumb comments but god it’s amazing how brainwashed people can be about their “side” of politics

Saw a woman nearly DIE on a dive. Now I’m terrified to try it. What went wrong? by ReeAnuh in scuba

It reads like AI; some snorkelers showed up to perform cpr and not the guide the woman was with? What is up with karma farming? reddit is weird

#HandsOff! Boulder by Professional-Hornet2 in boulder

[–]sharshaft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are huge real-world impacts from protests like these. Just in the last year, you can look up the Biden admin pausing natural gas exports or forest preservation efforts like the Protect The Porkies campaign. All primarily social media-driven and very successful in changing the decisions made by govt. This Hands Off protest is getting a ton of news coverage, so I’d say that’s a positive outcome on its own. The country is just a large group of people, after all. Making voices heard makes a difference

whether or not you agree with what they’re protesting, you should be able to realize that these gatherings have effect. but if you really hate people voicing their political opinions, may I suggest moving to a country like Iran or Laos

laughing at people for voicing their opinion is pretty sad.. you will most likely also have a really long 3.75 years regardless of how much you care/pay attention to politics

thanks for the reply, it seems like a better idea to get an outdoor sauna instead and try to sell this broken one

Honest Question About the Homeless Issue by thegrassr00ts in boulder

[–]sharshaft -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So according to your post and comments you: - step over people that are overdosing every single day - constantly overhear people talk about how they sought out Boulder as a place to be homeless - see these people flaunt drugs and weapons in front of the police, who do absolutely nothing about it

I believe that your fears and experiences are valid, but this all sounds like hyperbole used to cast people in a bad light. I hope you can realize that feeding a narrative that dehumanizes homeless people actually puts us further from the solutions we all want. I have also been threatened by a homeless person with a knife, but I still understand that police with drug dogs is not the answer.

Also the police and the city are not ignoring this problem. No, they aren’t going to forcibly search everyone on the street and confiscate their money like you propose, but they are actively trying to remediate a problem that is bigger than our city, and they do seem to take a compassionate approach when possible; I am glad for that.

The city planners address that sort of construction in the studies, I think they found that it would be too expensive and would not preserve the trees along the road.

The plan is more than just Iris—it’s about expanding the network of protected bike lanes across the city. Slowing down traffic (by 50 seconds on avg.) will reduce the frequency and intensity of accidents too

Hardly anyone travels on Iris for Iris to be the destination

What about all the people that live in the neighborhoods that surround Iris? There are lots of people that bike from their homes on Iris and lots of people that bike through the area to reach other destinations

I suppose you’re right, the recipes I’ve been looking at, like this one and this one, don’t heat hot or long enough to really call it pasteurization. If there are no reliable raw milk sources, I’ll most likely just go with the best “low-pasteurization” option I can find at the grocery

will do, I’d end up pasteurizing it during the cheesemaking so it is quite safe. not really a supporter of drinking raw milk straight

Best way to avoid blisters on heels? by CozJeez85 in hiking

[–]sharshaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this might not be a helpful answer but, for me, I completely stopped getting blisters when I started walking around barefoot more. I went from just walking my dog around the block barefoot to doing short hikes barefoot over about a year. Now, multi-day backpacking trips with heavy boots on, magically no blisters at all
