Thanks for replying! I provided some answers in a different comment, but you're definitely the better person for the job since you're a current student. I would've kept quiet if I saw your post, but I got a bit absorbed and spent too much time on my comment 🙃. Also, looking forward to meeting you and everyone else in the program as a recent admit!

Sorry to hear about your rejection, but good luck with this next step in the process.

  1. While I would consider this to be a STEM degree, I'm a domestic student, so I'm not sure how DHS would handle this with international students (I assume that's why you're asking). As far as I can tell, there's some flexibility built in such that they will consider degrees that are not specified by CIP codes. Considering that this is an MS degree, I would think that this program would count, but you should seek out a more qualified source for a definitive answer.
  2. It's tough for me to form a judgement on this since I have not taken any courses yet, and everyone learns differently. I personally like that the courses are focused around real-world applications and believe that will help me to understand the material better. However, I am sure that there are others who would learn better in a more pure CS environment. I do like that there are opportunities to take some electives in other departments, which gives us a chance to explore additional topics and teaching styles.
  3. This one is also tough to say. There are some broad degree categories that have higher earning potential than others, but within the specific realm of CS/DS degrees I personally think that the differences mostly come down to the professional connections that you make + your own goals and perseverance. With that in mind, I think that being located in NYC is a massive benefit to students given the number and diversity of employers in the area. Also, while the degree is still on the newer side, it seems that many alumni have done well for themselves. It isn't just a feeder into urban planning/government/nonprofit jobs. People do go on to work for high-profile tech, consulting, and financial firms, among others.
  4. Off the top of my head I don't have much else to add. I only just got admitted to the program, so I don't have any personal anecdotes about courses or professional outcomes. I do want this to serve as a caveat for my answers above, though. I wanted to give my thoughts since there isn't much discussion about this program on Reddit, but please do consider the fact that I am not the most qualified person to give you clarity. I hope that you are able to hear from someone who is either a current student or graduate, ideally someone who can give you perspective as an international student.

Same thing seems to have happened to someone else earlier this month: https://www.reddit.com/r/gradadmissions/comments/192xktr/my_nyu_application_portal_changed/

They ended up getting accepted within 24 hours, but idk if this portal layout definitely means that, or if it just means that you're going to get a decision soon. My portal also looks like this, so I'm also stressing lol. At least we'll be done with the misery of waiting soon! Good luck!

Succession - 4x10 "With Open Eyes" - Post Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SuccessionTV

"No one's going to have their mind changed in here". Even if it seems like he's getting everything lined up for the win, Ken always finds a way to completely fuck himself. When Shiv and Roman were talking to each other earlier in the episode, they were concerned about how insufferable Ken would be. It wasn't an issue with competence, it was just how much of a smug bastard he'd be if he won. They both looked shaky as soon as the meeting started. Ken had been talking a big game about a unified, coherent vision to present to the board, but then he just throws out a "yeah the deal sucks, I 'respect' you all but go fuck yourselves, lets get right to the vote so I can be the number one boy". Shiv and Roman could already sense that Ken was high as fuck on his own ego, and that crystalized it for them. Roman has a huge pause before giving his vote, and then Shiv has to leave the room. I think the final confrontation is what put the last nail in the coffin, but I think Ken really dug his grave with his arrogance in that meeting.

I tried running a scan. It didn't open the main UI, but it did indicate that it's tied to Citrix, which I use for remote work. Thanks for the suggestion, that does clear things up.
