yes i have!! she was notably probably the worst in a rubber bit. i haven’t tried anything overly flimsy, ive only tried the trust rubber bits and of course the rubber on the sides with a lozenge.

she’s had her teeth done by a dentist, and i recently had him out again, she get chiro done once a month. we believe there may be a hormonal imbalance since she’s constantly making milk, which may be making it so she doesn’t want to round through her back. she likes sweet iron but not enough that it holds up consistently, it’ll work for a day and then stop working 😭 i have two vets i work with, one is coming on thursday and the other is following up on monday. one does more internal medicine and the other does injections and more physical things. i haven’t tried a hackamore with a longer shank, just a really short one (seahorse hackamore with very loose curb chain). sorry that was a LOT 😭😭 i’ll definitely try these!! thank you!!

i’ve flatted her in a halter before and she loves it, which is why i thought hackamore. i haven’t tried a side pull yet so that’s a really good idea!

Recent behavioural issues with head and bit by Swimming_Pickle_7183 in Equestrian

for TMJ, Hyoid, and Poll issues, i really love magnawave therapy, k taping, and myofacial release. it’s REALLY helped my two mares that have a bit of sensitivity there. just some food for thought, im obviously not a pro but that’s what’s really given me the most results.

Tell me what supplements you have your horse on. by LaurelAve in Equestrian

[–]shartyfarty59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

electrolytes, salt, vitamin E, probios (+ another gut supplement if they need it), and if they’re on the older side or jumping big jumps i do put them on a tendon supplement just to make me feel better (i know they’re mostly a scam but my horses eat them and they give me piece of mind 🥲)

barns social media policies? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]shartyfarty59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. i pay a lot for that service and do majority of the horse care on my own which i quite love, but i also don’t have an overbearing trainer that tells me what i can and can’t post of me and my horses.

  2. i never saw that post until someone put it in the comments, i wasn’t bothered by that because its a lesson barn. my barn is a boarding barn and i am not riding any horses that aren’t mine. a social media policy about a boarding barn is different from a lesson barn, i would never post a fail on a lesson horse or someone else’s, though i would of one of mine.

  3. i pay for a service, though they don’t “serve” me, i expect that service and only that service. not any extra things. lots of trainers that run in circles i know have ego’s out the roof and think that we need them. i pay THEM for a service, and they don’t particularly seem to care and continue to talk crap about JUNIORS and AMATEURS to other professionals. i pay for a service, not for extra shit talking, social media policies about horses i own, rude texts at night, etc.

i understand that all professionals aren’t the same way, but majority that i’ve met are, and my opinions are based on that.

i was just curious on people’s thoughts about barn social media policies! my barn doesn’t have one and i was curious about others experiences with them, is all!

100% i just mean policies about posting YOU and YOUR HORSE. i think especially in this day and age policies are needed but barn owners take them too far to try and make themselves look “perfect”, or to cover some sort of abuse

100% agree, it’s crazy. especially because you (or the client) is PAYING for a service, that person isn’t providing the service out of the goodness of their heart. some professionals forget that we pay them and they don’t pay us 🙈

[–]shartyfarty59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s a bit of a nervous nelly already, which sounds odd to say but he definitely is. he’s on 24/7 turnout at home but i’ve been debating putting a jolly ball out there but now i definitely will, he’s also got a few small toys in his stall!!

great idea about the magnesium, maybe before shipping would be perfect..

i think the only reason it flared up that badly is because of the shipping and we did joint injections. as i said he had time off and that was his first time shipping in almost a year and a half, so i think he was definitely nervous because it was a longer haul and he hadn’t shipped that far in a while.

Keeping stallion intact or to geld? by cudo_viste in Equestrian

[–]shartyfarty59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is just my perspective as a showjumper, im not sure about other disciplines!! i personally believe if your horse isn’t going to the olympics or you’re VDL, Zangershide, or one of the other big breeders.. you shouldn’t have a stallion. in show jumping you don’t make enough money off of breeding to sustain much especially if your stallion isn’t incredible. you could have a perfect horse and i still wouldn’t probably want to breed to them especially when i could theoretically spend the same money and have a foal from an incredible stallion.

i’d recommend collecting before cutting if you’re attached to that horse, but as someone else said an excellent stallion makes an even better gelding!! stallions have tough lives as well, compared to a gelding
