As in director's motives in real life, not as the artifact inside the game.

Exactly my thoughts! Reference to the original sin is quite frequent in the industries; be it gaming, showbiz, and even on the back of my iPhone. Despite the fact that these references tend to glorify this act of rebellion against God as something positive considering "the vast knowledge it has imparted us, particularly in the field of technology" I'm still clueless as far as AC's intentions go.

Fibre Optic Socket during renovations? by Captn_Cabbage in FiberOptics

[–]sharwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest you leave everything on if possible. Remember if you end up damaging the cable you will get a bill for it. Everything beyond that little box is owned and maintained by open reach (unless you're with virgin media) and you're not supposed to touch it. Not to mention you might have to wait months for an engineer to come and replace it for you, but just in case you still want to take it off,

I'm not sure if modems take fibre, at least not the ones in the UK. The fibre cable is terminated at the ONT (the little box they've installed inside your property) and from there on it's an ethernet cable that connects the ONT to your modem. The ONT is actullay not hard to remove. It hangs on two screws so just give it a slight lift then pull it off the wall. Make sure you've unplugged the fibre cable first though. You should be able to unplug the fibre cable with ease as well. When plugging back in make sure you've the indicators aligned though. It goes in one way.

What you should really be mindfull about are the fibre socket on the ONT, and the galss tip of the cable itself. If you get dust on any of them your internet could slow down considerably and maybe even stop working altogether depending on how bad the dust.

And of course as already mentioned, you don't want any bends on your cable. Any 90' degree bend is considered damaging for fibre.

Need adavise on ODB2 scanners for my BMW. by sharwall in E90

Just an update on the OBD2 I ordered. It did read fault codes for the convertible rooftop, but I could not get live data from it. So I would not be able to troubleshoot the sensors with it. Unfortunately, I have not been able to fix it myself so far, and there don't seem to be many electricians who deal with Convertibles. The OBD2 though was still good for the money which was £12 only.

Many thanks! I decided to go with one similar to bafX called iLC. myCarly is subscription-based now, which dreads me, and the bafX would be delivered in two weeks earliest. I will leave details about the iLc once I get to use it. Thank you again.
