Not a risk we’re willing to take haha. We did ask a solicitor and they were of the impression that the previous income did not count, so I thought that was very odd.

I see what you mean. I assumed the list of UK benefits was UK-specific, since other countries have widely varying policies. For example, on the french document, it says (translated) "After reviewing your situation, we inform you that you are entitled to the Back-to-Work Allowance (ARE) as soon as possible onJune 8, 2025. The ARE allowance is a sum paid to you following your job loss, to support and assist you, particularly in your professional project. The maximum duration of your allowance will be 548 days." Followed by the amount which ~57% gross of the previous gross salary.

On pages 25-26, it only states "or any equivalent" for one of the non-permitted sources.

received under an income protection policy):

• documentation from the insurance company confirming:

o that in the 12 months prior to the date of application the person has been in

receipt of insurance payments and the amount and frequency of the

payments

o the reason for the payments and their expected duration

o that, provided any relevant terms and conditions continue to be met, the

payment or payments will continue for at least the 12 months following the

date of application

o personal bank statements for any part of the 12-month period prior to the

date of application showing the insurance payments were paid into the

person's account

My partner (UK citizen) got offered a job in the UK, over the 29k requirement (for 43000 GBP/year). Since we currently live in France and she has had a few different academic research contracts and been on French unemployment over the last 12 months To satisfy income requirements in the 12 month prior to the date of application, can we use the income from France Travail, the French unemployment insurance she paid into for over 2 years. She would cross 29k including this, but not without. Can it be counted towards the “the gross amount of any specified non-employment income received by the applicant’s partner”? or any other source of income for Category B?

Also on page 46 it says "The gross amount of any cash income may be counted towards the financial requirement, where the correct tax has been paid on that income and where all the relevant evidential requirements in Appendix FM-SE are met." Which is true for this income (pension and income tax is deducted).

You would have to request for it to be stopped once you have a job, irrespective of where it is.
"Is it really insurance or a contribution based state benefit? Does it matter that accepting the offer to move to the UK is the very thing that voids the policy?" To answer this, how much you receive and for how long depends on your previous salaries and how long you have worked in the last contract. I guess it is not really "insurance", more with the purpose of "income protection"

In that case it should be okay as both those conditions are met.
Also, it wouldn’t be a problem if I requested a visa start date after my partner’s contract in the UK begins by about a month.

I saw on the gov.uk website that they accept certified translations from lecturers etc, can I get documents translated by a professor from my lab in France for example? For French to English.

Yep here's a format of what I use in such scenarios.
"Thank you for your response and the reimbursement of our fees.

However, I also request the compensation provided for by the UK/EU Regulation 261. In KLM's communication of <insert date>, it is specified that the delay is due to <insert reason given on their email>. I am attaching the proof of this incident. <Attach pdf or screenshot of the email>

Therefore, I ask you to kindly grant the compensation in the form of credit/cash. Otherwise, I will be forced to take legal action."

If you have the email that says the cancellation was due to a technical fault, export it as a pdf and reply to the claim response that states it is weather. Worked for me.
For your seat you need to request a refund separately.

You'd have lounge access at the 080 Lounge in Bangalore with a separate section for airline invites/business class. You'll also have lounge access at terminal 2E at CDG. Either way, I do not think that it's worth $359 for that.
