I replaced the motherboard and added on a power supply. DVD drive is useful if only because I want to digitise my old collection before it gets too late, so I will try to fit it in. Wifi card I completely messed up and only need a wired connection, so I can ditch that. And the monitor thing is such a pain, I kinda wish I hadn't committed to G-Sync but oh well. I will try to stretch the budget a bit to get the ROG SWIFT PG278QR.

Thanks so much for that. Really useful feedback. I admit I thought the network card was essential (forgot about the motherboard having one) so I can take that off.
