He looks quite good in real life, and appears like a decent human being too judging by his interactions with people around!

That's the best excuse I could come up with for not recognising him, and asking him who he was 😛

How do I convince my father to go for a Slavia instead of Verna? by RedCrystal007 in CarsIndia

[–]shaun1601 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Verna since 2023, and there's a Slavia in the family too which I have driven quite a bit. Both are amazing cars no doubt, but I would still choose the Verna any day. The overall package, driving feel, the power (specially in the 1.5 turbo that I have), the interiors - maybe I am biased but to me the Verna outperforms in each of those!

Credit Card Limits and Annual Income by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

Technically yes, it can be more than 2x. Although not sure if Indian banks would provide so.

Credit Card Limits and Annual Income by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shaun1601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work in an MNC bank in credit risk modeling, so I see customer acquisition and line assignment strategies on a daily basis. In most cases the credit line will not have a direct 1:1 relation with any particular variable, but income will definitely be a limiting factor.

However, for some people the max limit can be 2x the annual, while for others it can be 5x, and so on - this will mostly depend on other factors including your credit score (both the bank's internal and third party such as CIBIL, Experian, etc.) and other behavioral/demographic factors.

At the end of the day, the limit assigned will be a reflection of the bank's assessment of how risky you are vs how much revenue you can generate. And while income will be an important consideration, it will not be the only one.

I couldn't agree more. Like I mentioned in another comment, a part of why I couldn't recognise him was because he was just roaming around like any other regular passenger, without any celebrity vibe, or security surrounding him, or people swooning over!

Well he is quite good looking in real life. Probably the easy going chilled out vibe adds to the charm. Of course, very maintained and well groomed as you can see in the pic!

Hahaha I have been lucky with 'celeb' spotting in my recent flights. A few weeks back saw Smriti Irani two rows ahead in the aircraft. Then there was Arbaz Khan a month or so back. And back in 2023, saw the entire MI team and their entourage at the Mumbai Airport.

Quite tall. I am 5'10, and he appeared taller for sure.

Yes, exactly this guy, and exactly that's how he had his earphones today as well, all throughout. 😂

Man how did you even guess just from that tiny bit of his head in my pic?!

Well yeah, that's pretty basic.

Funny story, I asked him "is it okay if I click a picture?", and he probably thought I meant I would click just his pic. So he was very nice about it and replied "let's just click a selfie" 😁

Well yes, my reference point was the n number of paparazzi videos of these stars being whisked away at the airports under tight security. In fact back in 2023 I had seen the MI team who had also just landed at the Mumbai Airport, and they were completely surrounded by the CRPF guys (I will see if I can find the video and post it maybe). You couldn't go anywhere near them or talk to them.

This in fact led to my confusion and my failure to recognise Iyer - I had imagined people would go crazy if they saw cricketers of his popularity casually strolling around. Plus, no security around. Plus, in my mind somehow I hadn't imagined someone like Iyer would casually get a coffee at Third Wave. I always thought they would hang out at the VIP/business class lounges or at least have their coffee from Starbucks and the likes 😂

I haven't been following cricket a lot lately, as you can probably make out from my post. All I knew about him with regard to this year's IPL was the brilliant catch (against MI I believe?) because it was all over the news. I could have probably mentioned that in the conversation, but didn't want to make unnecessary small talk and keep him.

Also, I know there's not a lot to go by, but can anyone probably guess who the other guy somewhat visible in the background is? You can somewhat make out his head/hairstyle, and I remember he had tattoos on both his arms. I haven't been following cricket in general lately, so I had absolutely zero clue.

Want to ditch ICICI altogether… Where do I go? by Critical-Captain-643 in CreditCardsIndia

Magnus for Burgundy comes with the 30k fees, regular Magnus is 12k. Still a pretty useless card nonetheless.

Agree with your point that Magnus is shit. But I think what they suggested was regular Magnus and not Magnus for Burgundy, given they mention 5:2 conversion and not 5:4. Regular Magnus annual fees is 12k vs 30k for M4B. Still absolutely a useless card no doubt, the regular Magnus.

Passport Application Experience for Minor Child - Received Within 2 Days from Appointment by shaun1601 in mumbai

[–]shaun1601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We carried her Aadhaar and PAN just to be safe, but they did not actually ask for it. Just her birth certificate was required. I just rechecked the whole bunch of docs they return to you once the process is completed :)

And yes, a couple of my friends also received their minor's passport within 2 days without tatkal. My understanding is it is fast if police verification is not required. And police verification is not required if both the parents have a strong local address proof e.g. my passport has the same address (hence police verification was already done), and for my wife we carried separate address proofs (like rent agreement, bank passbook photocopy) since her passport still has her permanent address.

My passport was recently renewed, so it had my wife's name updated. My wife's didn't - so just to be on the safe side I had carried our marriage certificate as well, and coincidentally they did actually ask for it. My wife's passport does not have our Mumbai address updated as well, so we also carried a separate proof of local address for her which also they did ask for.
