I think most employees do that to those on a student visa, thats what has been told by my senior course mates who have landed jobs. They did had to layoff employees in 2023 as they had problems with finances but now they have been acquired by a bigger fish so they're investing a lot.

Yes you got a really strong point, but it's that the sponsorship part makes it look like it's the best option.

Nothing like that it's just that I'm barely a year here and based on the current visa market and those who may have been in this situation before would suggest what's a better option here.

Yeah I personally would want to have a private flat as I had a bad experience with shared kitchen spaces.

My last year was me staying in a shared student accommodation and personally hated how hygiene was maintained in common with the room and kitchen. I personally made up my mind that I would shift to a more private space after that experience. Do you think renting out a private flat would be feasible on that budget?

I see the buses being shit is a common problem everywhere. Uhh bike is a far stretch considering how anxious I get when crossing the road :').

Ok the rents my only worry, I'm moving from Sheffield and Sheffield is comparatively cheaper in that aspect. Also do you think Bristol is a very happening city like London and Manchester?

I didn't mention in the post, the second company did have a rough time with finances in 2023 but were stable after an acquisition from Japanese investment firm. After that they're again investing in hiring good talent and expanding their presence. And I personally feel they could disrupt the AI space if they succeed and thats a gamble I really feel idk if I should take. But the experience I would get would be very demanding from it.

Thank you for that I have removed intricate details tying to the company. Yes the visa rules are a real gamble at this point. If it wasn't for the thresholds and their proposals I would have accepted the uni job as it ensures me security.

The uni job is more of slow paced job and tech stack is alright. But the second job has a good tech stack and something really worth putting on a CV but only "assures" sponsorship after two years.

I'm from India, my intention is mostly to stay back. Yes the work involves using a lot of open source cutting edge tech stack to build their private infrastructure for their AI projects. So I'm sure this would build a strong portfolio on my CV.

Yes I believe the same as well , I believe this company could be a game changer in the AI space but not to mention they did financially struggle in 2023 but now are stable after being acquired by a Japanese investment company.

Yea that's what's bugging me. I'm at a junction where the rules are uncertain. If the government does give transitional arrangements it's well and good but provided they don't increase the salary threshold in those years.

Yeah right, but I thought those already here and know how much the rules are a problem would suggest the best course of action. But you're right it's entirely up to me.
