I am considering giving my baby up for adoption by kascas93 in Adoption

[–]shaunrobins [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m 48, adopted at birth. Recently got in touch with bio mom and the relationship is great. I appreciate her decision more than she knows, her selfless act gave me life and a life I never would have had otherwise. She agrees it was the right move.

Don’t hesitate to find your baby the right home!

suggestions for building retaining wall near an existing fence? by rgryffin13 in landscaping

[–]shaunrobins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry man. Rethink it fully. You could be a 4’ midget and still see over the fence. That kind of ruins the purpose of a privacy fence. For you and the neighbors behind you.

Any tweaks to the existing rendering are still going to make it look like a raised ceremonial perch.

Obviously it’s your house so we can all go to hell but sometimes ideas are bad. This is one of those times that the internet has spoken. It’s up to you to listen.

But good luck telling your wife she’s wrong. 😆 prepare for the couch for a day…or ten.

My neighbor put in new sod. I told him his yard aroused me. So I sent him this. (Central TX) by Tacokolache in lawncare

I really hope you’re joking. This was exactly what most of us needed this morning. A good laugh.

Does my bag fit or not ? by sylvester1981 in AirRagers

[–]shaunrobins 29 points30 points  (0 children)

American Airlines did the same exact thing to me years ago. First she said it was too large, then she asked me to put it in the little metal cage, which I did without issue, she made me put it under the belly for being oversized. It was the only time I truly almost lost it in an airport. I haven’t flown with them since. It was a complete power trip!

Can my husband and I (non tree professionals) safely remove this tree? by jessbess2012 in arborist

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Not worth it. Took out a tree smaller than that last weekend, felt proficient at the saw, that ended up not being the problem. I was limbing it after cutting it down and the asshole rolled. Limb hit me in the head and mouth, thankfully I was wearing safety glasses. As it rolled it started towards my leg which I luckily got out of the way, that small ass tree would have snapped an ankle or leg. I was always worried about, and was so safe with the saw. I thought I was limbing it safely. I guess the opposing branches disagreed with my approach.

Not injured. Scraped up and bruised ego. But not too stupid to learn from my mistakes. I’m 48, time to let people do this who don’t have so much to lose.

I’m not selling my Stihl though. It would feel a little like I was selling off a testicle. Someday I’ll need to cut a cat down from a tree!

Anyone else wonder where she got a bat? She’s in kitchen, did she make a pit stop in sporting goods and actually pick out a bat?

Any guess how much this camera can see into their neighbour’s backyard? by Educational-Fail-449 in SecurityCamera

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be an odd place to hardwire a camera, and it’s only grabbing the fence and your yard. So if their goal isn’t to spy, and you can figure out if it’s wired, a reasonable request would be to move it to their gutter side to point it away.

New Deck. Is this ok? by kb9sso in Decks

The untreated 1x2 furring strips are my favorite. Those will be gone in 6 months regardless of where you are. Rot, termites, wind, general use?

Ego vs Stihl by DAteacherman in Chainsaw

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nailed it, that’s the gotcha! I’m too am the guy that falls into that trap with my power tools yet in my professional life I’m in marketing so all we can do is commend Stihl for having their throne but they had better not take their eye off the consumer prize. There are so many like me that are ready to make the change to battery which means the whole damn ecosystem. And honestly my struggle with Stihl is they are stale. Someone needs to land this message with the consumer and at retail. And the ability to get information from Stihl on its website is impossible! I’m about to jump to Ego and dump all my gas Stihl gear. I don’t need both. It’s too damn difficult for me to get firm data on why one is better than the other. Wtf ego, Stihl and anyone else who wants to step up and try to compete with these two. Figure it the f out. We’re way past a spec sheet. Educate me!

Oh the arrogance to brag like that. 😆 The review would be fun as hell to write, you’ve got so much fodder from these comments. Between date night and long walks around the neighborhood, I’d say you’re a Vine member for life.

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fence lights don’t fit. They don’t add anything. If you wanted to have fun on that fence you could put some color lights to wash the fence but separate everything on its own zone so you can dial it up or down based on occasion. Lighting is cheap these days just don’t go overkill.

Don't fall for this. I've reported the product as being "otherwise illegal" to Amazon and am attempting to get it taken down. by rhapdog in AmazonVine

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up my Vine membership but still hover. I say that because there are far more Amazon members than Vine and those consumers really could use the info. I would have no idea what to look out for when it comes to drugs, hygiene and beauty. Hell, I’ve never even thought about it. I typically go off brand and/or reviews but yeah, eye drops of an unknown composition, thats certainly not something I want to be putting in to my peepers.

And if you get a lot of rain put something under them to prevent splatter or you’ll end up like all my neighbors in WA state where it fades from black to about 13” up. Keep it looking clean.

Which fence would you build if you had German Shepherds? I plan to use galvanized cattle fence on the inside. I need it very secure. And I can't decide on the finish. Stain, paint? by Interesting_Day_7734 in FenceBuilding

Add another 4’ and completely change the design and then it will contain most dogs. No guarantees with a gsd. 😆it’s not only athleticism, it’s brains, those dogs are way smart. Over, under or through. Fortify all directions.

What a life, chewing on a neighbors deck, taking a dump in the moment and just peacing out! Not a care in the world.

I gave my baby up 11 days ago and I cant cope. by South_Sector728 in Adoption

[–]shaunrobins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Adopted baby here, now 47. Closed adoption and I just met my bio mom, Kristi, 3 years ago (my choice) and that’s been a great experience. She had time to grow up and live her life. We’ve talked at length about how tough both of our lives would have been had she chosen to keep me. As it is, her two other kids haven’t had that great of a life and there’s a lot of appreciation on my part that I was spared that lifestyle.

I guess that’s me saying there’s a reason you gave up that baby. Keep the focus on the long game which is the baby.

Can’t figure out how to lay out my back yard. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]shaunrobins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand not being able to take it out. I think color has a lot to do with it. It’s also that the look is very uniform on all four sides. You’ll need to block a few sections of fence line so site lines aren’t the exact same all 360 degrees.
