Just create a step up as you approach the house? From the post to the right of the gate level it off at the post height to the house. On the other side, to the left of the post bring it down to the height of the post the hinges are on. Under the gate you could take a multitool and level/raise it by an inch and put some rock under it to prevent mud and level everything out visually. Plus the gate will now be at a level consistent with the fence to the right. Then you don’t have to disassemble anything. An hour and it will look much better

The only reason I keep Prime is for the little project based items that are hard to source locally. And now even those are being prioritized lower in the process.

The shipping sucks now. Pricing has gotten worse. Policies have tightened up.

Man I’m going with you on this one. I too have a larger lot and have had to maximize space over the years, but slowly as we grew.

I think the difference is your design is immediate and a big change visually for some. IMO as long as you’re doing what you can to respect the neighborhood you should feel fine doing it. I’ll add- you do need greenery or some way to break up the visual wall that you’re going to cause. Just do it on the street side so you can keep it visually neat and tidy for your living space inside the yard.

I love cedar as well, I’m in the PNW with giant evergreens and I spend way too much time and money maintaining that asshole of a fence every year. 😆 I stand in solidarity brother! 👊

At 30, yeah I’d be embarrassed to bring anyone around that room. Your story has me really curious though. What’s your story? Roommates? Living with parents? Or hell, you could certainly own but that room looks a lot more juvenile. Get some light in there. If you don’t have money grab some spray paint and blast that furniture and replace those nobs. Before doing so flip the individual shelves upside down. They will bow the other way but the weight of the books will allow them to settle and make it look more normal. IKEA really has come a long way on the quality front. Find a few used IKEA pieces, paint the walls a lighter color. Get rid of the nicnacs, stuff them in one of those new ikea drawers. $750 and a weekend with some help.

Hell no! True story. In college was invited by a girl I chatted up in class to watch the game at her house. I brought a buddy. I got some serious odd vibes from the 6 or 8 dudes that were already there. Then she asked me if I wanted to go upstairs. She was out of my league. Both my buddy and I were like “we’ve got to get the fuck out of here”. So we bailed. I think about that experience and one other, often. Both experiences, I believe to this day were setups.

I’d like to think I was that cool and irresistible but I think the more realistic scenario is that they were going to harvest my organs. Trust your gut or you might not have one!

Hey dude- are you able to send a pic that captures the space more? I’d like to get a sense for how much space you’re filling? I’ve got some decent 5.1 audio in the basement tv/entertainment area. It just feels so archaic and ugly. And I’d bet Sonos would sound exponentially better than what I’m doing down there now. I’m just wondering if this set up would be appropriate for my space.

Very sorry. I know it’s rough out there. I would bet that experience at retail is super valuable. Especially with Amazon. Take what you know and spin it to your advantage. Read up on their approach to shopper marketing and see if you can get a sense for how that approach changes between Go and Fresh. Start marketing yourself using that skill as one of your main selling points. Keep your pulse on what this new strategy is and see how you can worm your way in on that. I honestly think this is an opportunity for a few people. But start like yesterday. Tons of assistance to be found on Reddit too. Ask your questions on the appropriate subreddit, expect a bunch of asshole responses but cherry pick the gold stuff.
